AEGIS Markets Surpasses 3,000,000 Contracts Executed on Its Digital Marketplace

Record Dealer participation and a planned expansion into Dealer-to-Dealer trading mark the next phase of growth for AEGIS Markets.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AEGIS Hedging Solutions ("AEGIS"), the leading provider of technology and expertise for commodity risk and revenue management, today announced that AEGIS Markets, its CFTC-regulated digital marketplace for commodity hedging, has surpassed 3,000,000 executed contracts, underscoring the continued migration of commodity hedging away from fragmented bilateral workflows and onto regulated digital infrastructure.

In commodity terms, one "contract" or "lot" represents 1,000 barrels of crude oil or NGLs, or 10,000 MMBtu of natural gas. Crossing the three-million-contract threshold reflects the equivalent of 3 billion barrels of crude oil hedged through AEGIS Markets.

AEGIS Markets executed its first million contracts in the 26 months following launch, its second million in the subsequent 13 months, and surpassed its third million in less than 10 months. The increasing pace of adoption has been driven by record Dealer participation, deepening liquidity, and increased activity from hedging Participants, including an increasing number of self-directed organizations executing on AEGIS Markets.

"Surpassing three million contracts reflects how quickly the industry is adopting modern market infrastructure," said Bryan Sansbury, AEGIS CEO. "We are excited to see electronic execution replacing legacy voice and chat and bringing efficient, transparent, and data-rich solutions to every market participant."

Liquidity has expanded alongside volume. AEGIS Markets now has a record 43 active Dealers participating on the Marketplace, up from 38 at the two-million mark, alongside 490 active hedgers executing transactions.

Extending the marketplace to Dealer-to-Dealer trading

AEGIS also announced that it will extend AEGIS Markets to support Dealer-to-Dealer trading by the end of 2026, allowing liquidity providers to transact directly with one another on the same regulated infrastructure they already use to serve hedgers.

Dealers today manage the risk they take on from Commercial End Users through a patchwork of trading platforms, brokers, and Dealer-to-Dealer negotiations. As a first step in simplifying the risk management of Dealer hedging, AEGIS Markets will enable Dealers to execute hedges with each other through AEGIS Markets, with price discovery, straight-through processing into existing back-office workflows, and the same regulatory framework already in place.

“Dealers joining the marketplace have asked us for electronic access to their offsetting Dealers,” said Andrew Furman, President of AEGIS Markets. “They want one venue where they can manage both client business and inter-dealer risk transfer. By bringing clients and downstream liquidity together, AEGIS Markets will deliver first-of-its-kind functionality that connects hedge origination and offsetting trades in a single screen. This eliminates the time between sourcing liquidity and providing an RFQ response, creating a faster, more efficient way for Dealers to manage the entire trade.”
