Pivot Bio Brings Farmer-Led Innovation to Climate Week NYC

Chris Abbott, chief executive officer of Pivot Bio, participated in sessions focusing on the intersection of agriculture, technology and innovation. On Monday, Sept. 21, Abbott spoke at the J.P. Morgan Sustainable Food Showcase at J.P. Morgan’s global headquarters in New York. On Wednesday, Sept. 23, he joined the Main Stage at The Nest Climate Campus for From Petri Dish to Profit, a discussion about moving agricultural biotechnology from scientific innovation to commercial scale.

Pivot Bio develops breakthrough crop nutrition technologies that harness the power of nature to deliver nitrogen directly to plant roots, helping farmers grow more productively, profitably and reliably.

Since 2022, the use of Pivot Bio products has resulted in more than 130,000 metric tons of synthetic fertilizer reduced, more than 1.675 million metric tons of CO2e emissions reduced, more than 890 million gallons of manufacturing water use avoided and more than 138,000 metric tons of nitrate leaching avoided.

In 2025, farmers used Pivot Bio products on millions of acres, replacing an average of 33 pounds of conventional nitrogen per acre while increasing yield. Across those acres, Pivot Bio products reduced the use of more than 33,500 metric tons of synthetic fertilizer in 2025. That resulted in an estimated 370,070 metric tons of CO2e emissions reduced, 229 million gallons of manufacturing water use avoided and 35,658 metric tons of nitrate leaching avoided.

Pivot Bio continued advancing its technology in 2025, introducing four new products, the most in a single year in the company’s 15-year history, across corn, cotton, sorghum and new application methods. When combined with the company’s Best Management Practices, Pivot Bio PROVEN® G3 growers replaced an average of 33 pounds of synthetic nitrogen per acre while gaining 2.1 bushels per acre, with overall win rates exceeding 90%. Across the 2024 and 2025 growing seasons, CERT-N™ cotton trials represented more than 30,000 acres, with growers who replaced up to 20% of their synthetic nitrogen achieving average lint yield increases of more than 50 pounds per acre.

As agriculture continues to rely on nitrogen, Pivot Bio is investing in a more efficient and resilient way to deliver it, advancing its next generation of nitrogen technology, expanding its domestic manufacturing and distribution footprint and giving farmers new tools to manage fertilizer costs and supply uncertainty for 2027 and beyond.
