TAMKO and Topper Construction Partner to Support Frederick Fire Department Training Facility

FREDERICK, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TAMKO Building Products LLC, a leading manufacturer of residential roofing solutions, today announced a giveback initiative it upheld in partnership with Topper Construction in support of the Frederick County Division of Fire & Rescue Services. The companies provided a new roof for the Frederick County fire department’s training facility, helping ensure a safer, sturdier environment for first responders preparing for real-world emergencies.

The project included the donation of TAMKO’s Titan XT® shingles, underlayment, and accessory materials, while Topper Construction, a TAMKO Pro Platinum™ certified contractor,* donated the labor to complete the installation.

The Frederick County Fire Department’s training structure, often referred to as a “burn building,” is used regularly by firefighters to simulate real-life scenarios, including rooftop operations and ventilation exercises. Due to its frequent and intense use, the roof had experienced significant wear, posing safety concerns for those training on it.

Battalion Fire Chief Frank Malta had this to say: “This facility is critical to how we train. It allows us to replicate real-world conditions so we’re best prepared to serve our community. Having a safe, reliable roof is essential to that mission.”

The newly installed roof restores a safe working surface for the county’s firefighters to ensure that they can continue to conduct training exercises, including navigating rooftop conditions and accessing interior spaces through roof hatches.

Topper Construction worked closely with TAMKO to bring the project to life, reinforcing a shared commitment to giving back.
