Barnes Aerospace and Singapore Economic Development Board Sign MOU to Explore Next Phase of Aerospace Growth in Singapore

Collaboration will evaluate opportunities to expand manufacturing and MRO capacity, develop advanced technologies, and strengthen Barnes Aerospace's APAC presence

SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Barnes Aerospace, a global provider of component engineering, manufacturing and repair solutions for the aerospace industry, today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to explore opportunities to expand Barnes Aerospace's manufacturing, aftermarket component repair and overhaul, engineering, and technology capabilities in Singapore.

The MOU builds on Barnes Aerospace's long-standing presence in Singapore and collaboration with EDB, establishing a framework for continued growth. In collaboration with partners across Singapore's aerospace and technology ecosystem, Barnes Aerospace will explore opportunities to develop advanced capabilities for aeroengine component manufacturing and repair while driving greater efficiency and productivity across its existing facilities.

The parties will also explore establishing Singapore as Barnes Aerospace's Asia-Pacific Engineering Center of Excellence for new repair development and new-part manufacturing, as well as a regional hub for supply chain, information technology, and commercial leadership. The MOU proposes the establishment of a regional Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence focused on developing and deploying AI-enabled solutions for engineering, manufacturing, and repair operations. Barnes Aerospace also plans to leverage Singapore's technology development ecosystem as it evaluates the potential expansion, including continued engagement with the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC).

In 2024, Barnes Aerospace opened a 2,400-square-meter component repair facility in Seletar Aerospace Park, increasing its Singapore footprint and expanding capacity for aeroengine aftermarket component repair. The facility complemented the company's existing MRO facility at Loyang and manufacturing facilities at Changi North Crescent.
