Corvias Foundation Connects Nearly 500 Military Families with Education, Community, and Career Resources at 2026 Opportunity Expos

Resident events across three Army installations expand access to educational guidance, career resources and community support.

FORT RILEY, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The non-profit Corvias Foundation has connected approximately 500 military families with local community and educational resources through a multi-installation series of Opportunity Expos. The expos are designed to help military families build connections, discover educational and career opportunities, and strengthen local support networks. The 2026 series visited Fort Bragg, Fort Meade, and, most recently, Fort Riley, and brought together nearly 40 service providers, creating opportunities for families to engage with resources that support their long-term success.

Military families relocate on average every two to three years, creating potential school disruptions for more than 1.6 million military children. Each move means new systems to navigate, and a different set of potential resources to access.

"Military families bring remarkable resilience, adaptability and perspective to every community they join," said Corvias Foundation executive director Julie Allen. “Our role is to connect families with the organizations, opportunities and support networks that can help them succeed wherever military service takes them.”

At each installation, Corvias Foundation convened local and national organizations that support military family success, creating a one-stop destination for families seeking educational resources, career guidance and meaningful community connections. In August at Fort Riley, parents met with the USO, Red Cross, Telemynd, Exceptional Family Member Program, and Deployed Love. Meanwhile, children enjoyed an escape room-style mystery challenge, bingo with prizes, a selfie station, reading puzzles, arts and crafts, and more.

The Opportunity Expo series is one of several ways Corvias Foundation connects military families with opportunities that support long-term academic and career success. Throughout the year, military-connected students can take advantage of programs such as the Purple Tassel Program, which helps students explore career pathways and discover occupations aligned with their strengths and interests, and the Foundation's College Connection guide. On October 12, Corvias Foundation’s Purple Tassel Vocational Achievement Scholarship submissions will open for high school seniors who are military dependents pursuing vocational or skilled trades.
