StackGen Launches the Autonomous Operations Factory

Aiden agents for infrastructure, delivery, SRE, and observability now run production from one shared context, under one set of compliance, security, and cost guardrails

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StackGen, the autonomous operations company, today introduced the Autonomous Operations Factory, a governed operating system in which specialized agents share operational context and coordinate work autonomously across provisioning, deployment, reliability, and remediation, using an organization's existing tools as the system of execution. Enterprises have been building AI software factories for the inner loop—writing, reviewing, and testing code. The outer loop that ships it and keeps it running safely has had no equivalent. The Autonomous Operations Factory is that missing half: a production line of agents running on Aiden OS, an agent harness that gives every agent shared operational context, under policy-bound, human-approved guardrails.

The bottleneck has moved from writing code to running it.

AI has compressed the software development inner loop. Change volume is up, deploy frequency is up, and the blast radius of any single change is larger than it was three years ago. Operations has absorbed all of that without a comparable step change of its own.

The outer loop hasn't kept pace, not because of effort. It's fragmentation. Software delivery runs as four disconnected functions: InfraOps, DevOps, Observability, and SRE, each with its own tooling, its own data, and its own context. Every one of them now has point agents bolted on.

The result is faster silos and even more fragmented governance. The handoffs between them, where most of the elapsed time in any incident or change actually goes, are exactly where context is lost. A pipeline can fix a failed build without knowing the error budget is already spent. An observability agent diagnoses an incident without knowing which infrastructure change is pending approval. That leaves enterprises with faster silos, weaker governance, and more room to reach production.

The gap is already showing up in the data. According to StackGen’s State of Reliability 2026 report, AI now accounts for roughly 10% of disclosed company incidents, a six-fold rise in three years. StackGen has documented at least nine cases since last year in which an AI agent took destructive action against a live production system entirely on its own.

What an operations factory is

A factory has four core components and a well-defined operational goal: a production line with defined stages, a shared context every station works from, guardrails and inspection at each step, and instrumentation that reports what it costs and how well it runs. The Autonomous Operations Factory is built on all four.

Aiden OS is the foundation. It combines the Aiden World Model, a continuously evolving knowledge layer spanning the full operations lifecycle: covering what is deployed, what changed, what broke, and what fixed it, with the agent harness that runs agents against it with consistent policy enforcement, audit logging, and approval flow. What one agent learns, every other agent can act on. In practice, that means SRE investigations that open with deployment history already loaded, deployment gating against live infrastructure drift before a change ships, and incident findings that feed forward into future deployment checks automatically.

Four Aiden agents run on Aiden OS. Aiden for InfraOps, Aiden for DevOps, Aiden for SRE, and Aiden for Observability work from the same context toward one outcome. Because they share the harness and the shared world model, enterprises can build or bring their own agents onto Autonomous Operations Factory and inherit the same guardrails, audit trail, and earned-autonomy model rather than rebuilding governance per agent.

Measuring autonomy with the Autonomy Index

Autonomous Operations Factory also introduces the Autonomy Index, a measurement framework delivered as benchmarks inside the product. It reports the autonomy level of each stage of the factory, each team, and each type of application, and how both trend as agents take on more work, giving engineering leaders a defensible answer to how autonomous their operations actually are and what the rollout is returning.
