Eaton Announces $1 Million Commitment to Support Global Freshwater Conservation Through The Nature Conservancy

CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intelligent power management company Eaton today announced a $1 million investment over four years to support The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) Global Freshwater Program and Forever Freshwater Geographies, helping protect and restore freshwater resources around the world.

The investment will support freshwater conservation efforts across priority geographies, including the Western Balkans, Selva Maya, the Colorado River Basin, the Great Lakes and Appalachia. Through this collaboration, Eaton and TNC will work to advance freshwater resilience, support healthy ecosystems and strengthen communities in some of the world's most important freshwater landscapes. While Eaton has a long history of investing in communities, this commitment is one of the largest philanthropic contributions in the company’s 115-year history.

"Strong businesses don’t succeed in isolation. They succeed when the communities around them are healthy and resilient," said Lucy Clark Dougherty, executive vice president and chief legal officer, Eaton. "For generations, Eaton and our people have contributed their time, talent and resources to support the places we call home. As we continue to grow, so does our opportunity and responsibility to make a positive impact. Through our support of The Nature Conservancy, we're investing in the long-term resilience of both communities and freshwater systems, creating lasting impact for generations to come.”

Through TNC's Global Freshwater Program and Forever Freshwater Geographies initiative, conservation efforts focus on improving river and watershed health, restoring critical habitats, supporting biodiversity and strengthening freshwater resilience in regions facing growing environmental pressures.

“This collaboration with Eaton will help advance healthy freshwater systems across North America, Europe, and Latin America,” said Nicole Silk, The Nature Conservancy’s global director of freshwater. "Directing investment to these programs will help safeguard and restore rivers, lakes and wetlands that directly benefit communities around the world.”
