Bunkerhill Health Names Dr. Azita Hamedani as First Chief Clinical Officer

Longtime academic health system executive and emergency physician joins Bunkerhill to lead clinical strategy as the company’s long-horizon AI agent takes on a widening set of clinical, operational, and administrative work for health systems.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bunkerhill Health, whose long-horizon AI agent helps health systems translate their goals into outcomes, today announced the appointment of Azita G. Hamedani, MD, MPH, MBA, as its first Chief Clinical Officer.

As Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Hamedani brings the perspective of a health system operator inside the company. She will lead Bunkerhill’s clinical strategy and shape how its capabilities are adopted across clinical, operational, and administrative work. Her appointment follows a period of rapid growth for Bunkerhill, with an expanding roster of health system partners, agentic AI reaching a widening set of clinical domains, and $55 million raised to date, including a Series B led by Khosla Ventures announced in July 2026.

Dr. Hamedani brings clinical, operational, and academic leadership to her role at Bunkerhill. Most recently, she served as President and CEO of UNC Faculty Physicians and Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Hamedani spent nearly two decades at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health, where she founded the Department of Emergency Medicine and chaired it for over a decade while also leading system initiatives related to quality and innovation. Dr. Hamedani earned her BS, MD, and MPH from Yale University and her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She completed her residency and chief residency at Mass General Brigham, along with a fellowship in hospital administration at Massachusetts General Hospital.
