Gradient AI Delivers Major Renewal Analytics Upgrade With New Capabilities for Group Health Customers and Stakeholders
Latest release adds integrated risk scoring, group terminations, peer benchmarking, IBNR adjustments, and client-ready PDF reporting to the company's market-leading renewal platform.
The latest release of Gradient AI's Renewal Analytics introduces new capabilities — including Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) adjustments, peer benchmarking, a group termination model, integrated risk scoring, and client-ready PDF reporting — alongside continued enhancements to the platform's analytics, drilldown, and filtering functionality.
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gradient AI, a prominent enterprise software provider of artificial intelligence solutions for the insurance industry, has launched a significant expansion of Renewal Analytics, its Group Health platform that translates claims experience into forward-looking risk assessments. The latest release introduces new capabilities — including Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) adjustments, peer benchmarking, a group termination model, integrated risk scoring, and client-ready PDF reporting — alongside continued enhancements to the platform's analytics, drilldown, and filtering functionality.
Whereas most Group Health reporting solutions merely reveal what has already transpired, Renewal Analytics connects four steps into one integrated solution: it shows performance across portfolios, segments, groups, and members; it isolates the conditions, drugs, and segments driving cost and risk; and it projects each group's and member's future risk for the next 12 months, then turns that risk into a renewal price with the built-in Rate Calculator.
New Capabilities
- Integrated Risk Scoring. Applied automatically at the member level, the new module generates a single blended risk score combining a customer's own claims data with signals from third party data sources. The benefits are particularly valuable for newer groups or groups with high member turnover where gaps in experience data exist. The result is more accurate premium pricing, lower volatility, and sharper underwriting focus.
- Group Termination Model. A new module scores every group with a termination-risk rating before a rate action is set, using a proprietary machine learning model. The model provides insurance teams with a data-driven basis for prioritizing retention efforts, focusing discounts, and pushing harder on rate increases for unprofitable yet unlikely to leave groups. Notably, the tool supports underwriters’ judgments rather than replacing them.
- Peer Benchmarking. A new benefit available across Performance Metrics, Drivers and Group Summary views — allows users to instantly compare any group or their full portfolio against a relevant peer set. Comparisons extend to specific cost drivers including condition prevalence and drug utilization, bringing peer context directly into renewal decisions and broker conversations.
- IBNR Adjustments. Users can now apply Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) adjustments directly within Renewal Analytics, replacing the lagging view of claims and medical loss ratios with a forward-looking projection that reflects how claims are likely to develop. Applicable at both the portfolio and group levels, the feature includes side-by-side adjusted versus unadjusted trendlines, enabling fairer period comparisons and more grounded renewal and cost containment decisions.
- Group Summary PDF. A new client-ready PDF reporting element turns Renewal Analytics data into a branded, shareable report in a few clicks, eliminating manual export and rebuild work. Designed for underwriters and account managers preparing renewal materials, the PDF is built for external audiences including brokers, employer HR leaders and consultants.
Taken together, the latest enhancements deliver benefits that build on Renewal Analytics' existing foundation: greater clarity through enhanced metrics, newly added touchpoints and IBNR-adjusted views; improved efficiency through streamlined workflows, faster navigation and automated PDF reporting; deeper insight through peer benchmarking, multilevel drilldowns and integrated risk scoring; and stronger decision intelligence through a better understanding of costs, risks, termination likelihood and member outcomes.
Beyond platform refinements, the latest release introduces capabilities that extend what Renewal Analytics can do at both the group and portfolio levels.
"Renewal Analytics has proven to be a market-leading platform that enables risk assessors to understand the factors driving results, identify risks well before they become claims, and act at the most appropriate level," said Marc Jeffreys, Health GM, Health Gradient AI. "This release extends that capability significantly, adding the tools underwriters and actuaries need to fill gaps in experience data for new groups and new members, see claims as they're likely to develop, benchmark groups against relevant peers, and anticipate which groups are at risk of leaving before a rate decision is made. Always, the goal is helping our customers balance financial stewardship with improved member outcomes."
Aligning with SAIL™, Gradient AI's solutions suite for new business, Renewal Analytics assists insurers and decision-makers navigating shifting challenges such as rising healthcare costs, unpredictable claim patterns, emerging member health risks and rising competition.
