Texas football legend chooses an Austin original for limited edition, hand-numbered cowboy boots

AUSTIN, Texas & DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alvies Boot Company, the home of Austin Originals Made with Soul, today launched The VY, a limited, hand-numbered cowboy boot developed in collaboration with former NFL quarterback and University of Texas legend Vince Young.

Arriving on the heels of his Netflix documentary, Untold: The Testimony of Vince Young (currently trending as a “Top 10 to Watch” on the platform), the boot is available now at Alvies' online store and the company’s Bespoke Western retail store at 105 South Main Street in Saint Jo, Texas. For this weekend only, the Alvies team is proud to present The VY Launch Party, an activation hosted at the Renaissance Austin Downtown kicking off September 4 and running every Friday and Saturday of UT Football home game schedule this fall.

The VY’s design reflects Vince Young's own story — Texas roots, a football career built on discipline and hard work. It's a standard of craft and dedication that Alvies says mirrors its own approach to bootmaking. Available in two colorways – Blackout Black and Pigskin Brown - the VY is a nod to Young's Texas football roots. The stitch detail on the boot shaft is inspired by football lacing, and a custom VY shield monogram appears throughout the packaging and the boot itself.

Each pair in the release is numbered by hand, a detail the brand says was a deliberate choice.“We didn't want this to feel like merchandise, just like those of us who experienced Vince Young’s amazing career don’t think of him as just a quarterback–he’s an icon,” said Alvies owner George Baker. “Every pair that goes out with Vince's name on it is treated like the boots we'd want to keep for ourselves – a bit of an artifact or memorabilia.”
