The Standard Volunteer Expo Helps People Give Back in a Big Way

Members of the public are welcome to connect with local nonprofits to learn about a variety of volunteer opportunities.

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Standard is once again hosting the Volunteer Expo at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Now in its 19th year, the Volunteer Expo is Oregon’s largest volunteer recruitment event, featuring more than 100 local nonprofits that connect community members with meaningful opportunities to give back.

Participating organizations represent animal welfare, arts, culture and humanities, education, environmental stewardship, health, human services and more. Volunteer opportunities range from one-time projects to ongoing commitments and offer options for a variety of interests, skills and schedules.

For almost two decades, The Standard Volunteer Expo has connected volunteers with organizations working to strengthen communities throughout the region. The free event kicks off Employee Giving Celebration month at The Standard, exemplifying the company's longstanding commitment to volunteerism, charitable giving and community partnership. Last year, employees raised $6.4 million (after the company double match) to benefit 2,630 nonprofits and schools.

As nonprofits continue to face growing demands for services, volunteer support remains critical. The Volunteer Expo provides an opportunity for Portland-area residents to meet personally with nonprofit representatives to learn about community needs and find ways to get involved.
