Strengthening Accountability in Military Housing Through Intelligent Automation

Multi-year investments drive performance and quality of life for residents and Army partners, while delivering nearly $10 million in savings

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Corvias is accelerating millions of dollars in technology investments across its military housing portfolio, integrating new tools into everything from quality control and maintenance to Department of War (DOW) reporting. The effort represents one of the largest digital transformations of its kind in military housing, improving how thousands of homes are managed and maintained – and the experience of the families who live in them.

“Every technical improvement is aligned to resident quality of life,” said Corvias’ Kolby Stobbe, SVP Property Operations. “We’re connecting real-time performance and service information across thousands of military homes so our teams can proactively address issues and better manage assets to continuously improve our communities to support readiness and resilience.”

The transformation is consolidating once-siloed systems to identify operational issues earlier and improve performance. For residents, that means more staff time focused on service and better information to support their needs.

Since 2023, the combined efforts have:

  • Returned nearly 4,700 staff hours to higher-value work, reducing time spent on manual reporting and repetitive tasks and creating more capacity for teams to focus on residents and housing community operations.
  • Freed up millions for reinvestment in military housing communities by contributing to over $3 million in insurance premium savings through advanced geospatial mapping and risk mitigation. The savings can be reinvested in Corvias communities to use for ongoing repairs and other community needs.
  • Generated more than $6.5 million in documented cost avoidance and operational savings, improving efficiency and helping Corvias and its Army partners make better use of resources across its military housing portfolio.

The phased transformation effort is focused on three core areas:

  • Raising Maintenance Standards Through Automation
With over 72,000 residents across its communities, Corvias completes tens of thousands of resident work orders annually, using automation to evaluate work order data against standardized quality, service and timeliness criteria. This gives teams real-time insight into compliance trends and recurring issues, enabling a data-driven approach to maintenance. To date, the program has improved work order compliance by approximately 20%, helping ensure more work orders consistently meet established quality benchmarks.
  • Modernizing Data-Sharing with the U.S. Army
Corvias brings the same automation-driven approach to partnership with the U.S. Army. As the first military housing partner to work with Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) to automate and standardize portions of housing performance reporting, Corvias is replacing manual processes with a more streamlined, transparent and responsive data-sharing environment. The company is adding security layers while building a system that supports informed decisions for the long-term.
  • Using Data to Better Serve Residents
Powering these efforts is Corvias Business Intelligence (COBI), the company’s in-house data platform. Beyond supporting maintenance and data-sharing, COBI provides property-level insights into the age, condition and lifespan of assets across the portfolio. This helps Corvias proactively address needs and prioritize investments, from replacing aging appliances to targeting renovation and construction where they can have the greatest impact.

This human-centered approach ensures that back-end innovations directly translate into better experiences on the ground.

“Technology has the greatest impact when it becomes invisible to the people it serves,” said Shane Kilgore, EVP, Information Technology, Corvias. “When our platforms work seamlessly together, the focus isn’t on the technology. It’s on improving our homes, strengthening the resident experience and continuing to invest in what matters to the people and communities we serve.”
