Crosstimbers Capital Group Adds James Wang as a Managing Director
Veteran hard-asset investor joins to lead investment execution, portfolio monitoring and asset management as Crosstimbers continues to grow
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crosstimbers Capital Group ("Crosstimbers"), a Houston-based private equity firm that partners with operators to build HALO (Hard Asset, Low Obsolescence) businesses in digital infrastructure, water, power, and transportation, today announced that James Wang joined the firm as a Managing Director. Mr. Wang is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and will lead investment execution, portfolio monitoring and asset management efforts across the firm. His appointment reflects the firm’s continued investment in the team responsible for its build-stage, control-oriented approach to hard-asset investing.
"Trevor and I are delighted to welcome James to Crosstimbers. He spent nearly two decades in private equity most notably at First Reserve and Ara Partners — two highly respected names in energy, infrastructure, and industrial private equity — executing and overseeing investments at real institutional scale. As our portfolio has grown, so has the depth of the team behind it. James's arrival gives our operating partners a senior, dedicated resource in portfolio and asset management, and it reflects where we are investing our own energy as a firm."
said David Hollon, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Crosstimbers Capital Group.
Mr. Wang brings nearly two decades of hard-asset and infrastructure private equity experience to Crosstimbers. He was formerly a Managing Director and Principal at Ara Partners, an industrial decarbonization private equity firm with approximately $8 billion in assets under management, where he led the evaluation, execution, and oversight of private equity investments.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wang was a Vice President at First Reserve, an energy and infrastructure private equity firm with approximately $17 billion in assets under management, where he helped execute more than $2 billion of equity investments. He began his career at Lehman Brothers, providing investment banking advisory services.
Mr. Wang graduated at the top of his class from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, earning concurrent Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Professional Accounting degrees. He lives in Houston with his wife and three daughters.
"Crosstimbers' early, control-oriented approach to building hard-asset businesses is exactly the kind of investing I've spent my career doing. The rigor the team brings from underwriting through ownership is what drew me here. I'm glad to be joining at this stage of the firm's growth and contributing to that discipline going forward."
said James Wang, Managing Director, Crosstimbers Capital Group.
"James arrives at the right moment. AI and reindustrialization are reshaping the economy, and both require a physical foundation: power, water, digital infrastructure. We build those platforms, and James will help us build more of them, faster and better."
said Trevor Brock, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Crosstimbers Capital Group.
