HomeServices of America and its Wholly Owned Mortgage Company, Prosperity Home Mortgage, Expand The Complete Real Estate Experience With Mortgage Servicing

New servicing capability extends HomeServices’ OnePoint experience beyond the closing table, creating a truly integrated real estate experience for consumers and real estate professionals

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Furthering its position as the nation’s only fully integrated real estate ecosystem, HomeServices of America today announced that Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC, its wholly owned mortgage company, is adding mortgage servicing to the HomeServices portfolio of services, extending the company’s relationship with consumers from the beginning of their home search through the life of their mortgage.

Prosperity Home Mortgage is one of the nation’s leading full-service retail mortgage lenders focused primarily on purchase transactions, originating nearly $9 billion in loans annually across approximately 21,000 transactions.

The additional in-house service marks the next evolution of OnePoint, The Complete Real Estate Experience – HomeServices’ innovative approach to connecting the people, services, technology and data involved in buying and owning a home.

Through HomeServices and its team of real estate professionals, consumers can access home search, residential brokerage, mortgage origination, title and escrow, property and casualty insurance, and now mortgage servicing within one connected network.

Together, these capabilities create what HomeServices believes is the industry’s first truly end-to-end real estate experience, designed around a simple idea: consumers should not have to navigate a series of disconnected companies to buy, finance and own a home, and the trusted relationship they have built with their real estate professional should not end at the closing table.

And now, with Mortgage Servicing, the HomeServices suite of companies can extend The Complete Real Estate Experience beyond the closing table and continue serving that homeowner long after they receive the keys.

“Buying a home may be one transaction, but homeownership is a journey that lasts for years,” said Chris Kelly, President and CEO of HomeServices of America. “For too long, our industry has accepted a model where consumers are handed from one company to another throughout the transaction and, after closing, their mortgage may be handed off yet again to a company they have never heard of. We believe there is a better way. Just as importantly, we can help protect the relationships between our real estate professionals and the clients they worked so hard to earn. Our goal is not to replace that relationship, it is to strengthen it.”

“Prosperity has always believed that closing a mortgage should be the beginning of a relationship, not the end of one,” said Justin Messer, President and CEO of Prosperity Home Mortgage. “Adding this service gives us the ability to remain connected to the families we help finance and deliver a more consistent experience throughout their homeownership journey. Whether it’s their needs changing, should they have a question about their mortgage, are considering refinancing, or are ready for their next home, they remain connected to an organization and a network of professionals they already know and trust.”

From the First Search to the Last Mortgage Payment

The traditional homebuying experience remains highly fragmented. OnePoint was created to bring together local real estate professionals and HomeServices’ mortgage, title, escrow and insurance capabilities – supported by connected technology and data.

Mortgage servicing – the ongoing customer service side of a mortgage after it closes (your monthly payment, questions, special requests, statements, tax documents, etc.) – is generally managed by someone else because the company that lends you the money, more often than not, sells off the servicing rights to the loan.

By adding mortgage servicing, HomeServices now extends that ecosystem beyond the transaction itself into a true, long-term relationship.

“Rather than introducing another handoff at closing,” says Messer, “servicing provides an opportunity for Prosperity Home Mortgage and the broader HomeServices family to maintain continuity with the homeowner throughout the life of the mortgage. Our clients will be dealing with a trusted team that they know – and knows them.”

Built Around the Consumer and the Real Estate Professional

The Complete Real Estate Experience is intentionally centered on the relationship between consumers and their real estate professionals.

For many buyers, recommendations from their real estate professionals saved time, reduced uncertainty and it allowed them to benefit from the trust they had already placed in their agent.

Mortgage servicing extends that philosophy beyond closing. In the traditional model, servicing can move the homeowner outside the ecosystem in which the original relationship was established. That creates another disconnected experience for the consumer.

The HomeServices model is designed differently. By keeping the homeowner connected to the HomeServices ecosystem, OnePoint can support the long-term relationship between the consumer and their real estate professional rather than compete with it.

Agent-Driver, People First Philosophy, all Connected by Technology.

HomeServices’ research also points to an important distinction between integration and automation. Nearly 75% of recent buyers said they would prefer a people-led home-buying experience over one primarily driven by technology, with the largest group preferring an experience led by people and supported by integrated technology.

“That principle is central to one point,” concludes Kelly. “The objective is not to compress one of life’s most important financial decisions into an app. It is to use technology and connected data to remove friction between the professionals that consumers already rely upon, allowing the real estate agent, mortgage consultant, title and escrow professionals, insurance professionals and servicing team to operate as a more coordinated ecosystem.”
