Homes.com Shares Most Expensive Home Sales Across Major U.S. Markets in July
Priciest publicly marketed deals ranged from $3.72 million in Cleveland to $130 million in Los Angeles, highlighting stark differences across local luxury markets
ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Homes.com, a leading online residential marketplace and part of CoStar Group (NASDAQ: CSGP), today published an analysis of the most expensive publicly marketed home sales across major U.S. metropolitan areas for the month of July. The full analysis is available here.
The list highlights the top closed sales in leading markets nationwide based on publicly marketed transactions recorded in Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data. July’s most expensive publicly marketed home sale occurred in Los Angeles, where a Bel Air estate sold for $130 million at a foreclosure auction. At the other end of the markets analyzed, Cleveland’s top sale reached $3.72 million, underscoring the significant differences in what constitutes the highest end of the housing market across the country.
The full roundup of the most expensive publicly marketed home sales includes:
- Los Angeles: $130 million
- New York City: $47 million
- Phoenix: $40.2 million
- Miami-Dade County: $40 million
- Seattle: $21.2 million
- Tampa: $19 million
- Boston: $18 million
- Chicago: $17.5 million
- Atlanta: $13.8 million
- San Francisco: $12 million
- San Diego: $8.7 million
- Washington, D.C.: $7.9 million
- Las Vegas: $7.7 million
- Minneapolis: $7.2 million
- Charlotte: $6.5 million
- Denver: $6.1 million
- Nashville: $6 million
- Philadelphia: $5.4 million
- Cleveland: $3.7 million
July’s results revealed a notable divide among luxury housing markets. In the four markets where even the fifth-highest sale exceeded $10 million, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Phoenix, the difference between the highest and lowest of the top five transactions was at least $16 million. Miami recorded the narrowest spread among the four, with its top five sales ranging from $24 million to $40 million.
The analysis is based on entries in the nation’s Multiple Listing Service platforms and therefore often excludes private and off-market transactions, which are common at the highest tier of the housing market. Because Texas is a nondisclosure state, Homes.com News evaluated the priciest properties in Houston and Dallas based on listing price.
