Additionally, Cornerstone’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mini Peiris, has joined the Board of Directors of the Cornerstone Foundation, which supports both DisasterReady and NonprofitReady. The appointment was announced during the week of World Humanitarian Day, the United Nations-designated day honoring humanitarian workers’ dedication, courage, and sacrifice in service to others. In her new role, Peiris will support the Foundation’s mission to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations and the people who carry out their work, joining a board dedicated to strengthening the humanitarian, development, and nonprofit sectors through free access to online training and professional development.
“Humanitarian workers show up in the hardest moments the world faces, often at real personal risk, so that others can survive and rebuild,” said Peiris. “I am deeply grateful for their courage and their compassion, and I don’t take lightly what it means to stand in support of people in this work. Joining the Cornerstone Foundation board is a chance to support the people and organizations equipping humanitarians with the skills they need, and it feels especially meaningful to share this on a day set aside to honor them.”
“On behalf of the Cornerstone Foundation board, I’m delighted to welcome Mini,” said Miriam Wardak, chair of the Cornerstone Foundation Board of Directors. “So much of our work comes down to making sure humanitarian and development professionals actually know these free resources exist and can find their way to them to increase their positive impact. Mini has spent her career building that kind of awareness at scale, and I’m excited about what her perspective will bring as we look for new ways to reach the people doing this work. We’re fortunate to have her join us.”
Cornerstone employees and leaders have supported the Cornerstone Foundation and its programs, including DisasterReady and NonprofitReady, since the Foundation’s founding in 2010. The Foundation operates independently of Cornerstone’s commercial business and is funded through the company’s ongoing philanthropic support.
In honor of World Humanitarian Day, inspired by this year’s UN campaign to protect those who help others, the Cornerstone Foundation has prepared a tribute featuring video stories, quotes, and photos from humanitarians around the world, highlighting how continuous skill-building helps deliver aid safely, supports well-being, and prepares the humanitarian workforce of the future.
