Cowboy Space Appoints Chithra Perumal as Chief Financial Officer

Perumal brings more than two decades of finance and executive leadership spanning commercial space, cloud infrastructure, and public accounting

SAN CARLOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cowboy Space Corporation, the orbital infrastructure company founded by Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt, today announced the appointment of Chithra Perumal as Chief Financial Officer. Perumal will oversee financial strategy and execution as Cowboy enters its next phase of growth.

Perumal brings more than 20 years of finance leadership experience, most recently serving as Vice President of Finance at Varda Space Industries, where she helped lead the company’s finance organization through a pivotal period of transformation, including fundraising and financial planning, treasury and financial risk management. Prior to Varda, she held Divisional CFO roles within Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Shipping, driving complex, capital intensive infrastructure investments across global markets. Before Amazon, Perumal served as a Director at KPMG LLP, where she oversaw advisory and audit engagements.

Perumal earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. She is a Certified Chartered Accountant (CA).

“The future of computing extends beyond Earth, and realizing that future requires leaders who understand the unique demands of space and infrastructure,” said Baiju Bhatt, founder and CEO of Cowboy Space Corporation. “Chithra has built finance organizations at the forefront of both, making her an exceptional fit for the road ahead.”

“Cowboy Space is moving orbital data centers from bold idea to commercial reality, and that kind of ambition demands financial stewardship to match,” said Chithra Perumal, CFO of Cowboy Space Corporation. “I'm excited to partner with the leadership team at Cowboy to build the rigor and flexibility needed to pursue its vision at scale.”

Perumal’s appointment reflects Cowboy’s continued investment in the people and processes needed to build, fund, and operate the next generation of orbital infrastructure. Based in Seattle, she joins the executive leadership team effective immediately.
