Imagine Learning Acquires Wayside Publishing to Advance World Language Education

Acquisition strengthens Imagine Learning’s portfolio of high-quality instructional materials and broadens its support for preparing students for success beyond graduation.

TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Imagine Learning today announced the acquisition of Wayside Publishing, a leading provider of world language curriculum and language-learning solutions. The acquisition broadens Imagine Learning’s world language offerings with proficiency-based curriculum that helps schools develop the academic foundations, communication skills, and cultural understanding students need in an increasingly connected world.

Imagine Learning has long helped K–12 educators develop students’ academic knowledge alongside the critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills essential for success beyond the classroom. World language education advances that work by giving students authentic opportunities to communicate across cultures, consider new perspectives, and apply what they learn in meaningful contexts.

For more than 35 years, Wayside has been at the forefront of proficiency-based world language education, helping educators develop confident communicators and globally minded learners. Its Spanish, French, German, Latin, and Italian programs pair research-based curriculum and authentic language experiences with Nualang, its AI-powered language-learning companion. Together, these resources create an instructional experience centered on meaningful communication rather than memorization.

“Preparing students for the future requires more than academic achievement alone,” said Jonathan Grayer, Founder and CEO of Imagine Learning. “Students need to communicate across cultures, solve complex problems, collaborate with diverse teams, and adapt to a rapidly changing world. World language education develops those capabilities in ways few other disciplines can, and Wayside has spent more than three decades helping educators bring that learning to life.”

“Wayside has always believed exceptional language instruction opens doors for students — to new cultures, new perspectives, and new opportunities,” said Meghann Gorden, CEO of Wayside Publishing. “Joining Imagine Learning gives us the opportunity to accelerate that mission with a partner that shares our commitment to instructional excellence and innovation. Together, we will continue supporting the educators and schools that made Wayside a trusted leader in world language education.”

With Wayside, Imagine Learning broadens the ways it supports districts in preparing students for success in school, careers, and life while bringing an established world language portfolio to more educators and learners.
