Backed by investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures, National Grid Partners and Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund, VEIR is developing superconducting power delivery systems designed to accelerate deployment, provide greater layout flexibility and reduce infrastructure costs. By delivering more power with significantly less material and a smaller footprint than conventional infrastructure, VEIR’s technology reduces installation labor and time to power while enabling higher data center power density.
The appointments strengthen VEIR’s strategic and operational leadership as the company advances from technology development and validation toward commercial deployments and scaled manufacturing capabilities.
Ulrich Spiesshofer and Jennifer Vigreux Join Board of Directors
Spiesshofer and Vigreux add deep expertise across hyperscale infrastructure, complex global partnerships, power technology and industrial transformation. Spiesshofer brings extensive leadership experience across power, automation, industrial technology and corporate transformation, while Vigreux brings more than two decades of experience building the commercial relationships and infrastructure supporting the global cloud and AI economy.
“VEIR is entering an important new stage of growth as we build the organization required to commercialize and deploy superconducting power delivery at scale,” said Tim Heidel, CEO of VEIR. “Following our 3-megawatt demonstration, we are now working with customers and partners on multiple reference designs for AI factories. Ulrich and Jen bring highly complementary experience that will help us deepen our engagement across the data center ecosystem, prepare to meet growing demand and translate our technical progress into broad commercial adoption.”
Spiesshofer served as CEO of ABB from 2013 to 2019, leading the company’s transformation into a focused digital-industries business. He previously led ABB’s Discrete Automation and Motion division and served on its executive committee with responsibility for strategy, mergers and acquisitions, supply chain, operational excellence and quality.
He currently serves as a senior adviser to Blackstone and as founder and chairman of thirdphase AG.
Vigreux currently serves as senior vice president of strategic accounts and chief revenue officer of xScale at Equinix, where she leads go-to-market strategy and revenue execution for the company’s strategic accounts data center business and hyperscale joint ventures. Previously, she led global strategic initiatives for Google Cloud and served as principal of strategic deals at Amazon Web Services.
Vigreux holds an M.Sc. from the University of Guelph and completed the Greater Boston Executive Program in Business Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Greg Mongeau Appointed Chief Operating Officer
As chief operating officer, Mongeau will lead VEIR’s manufacturing, supply chain, quality and operational execution as the company prepares its technology for repeatable deployment at scale.
“VEIR has demonstrated that superconducting power delivery is addressing some of the most significant infrastructure constraints facing AI data centers,” said Mongeau. “My focus is scaling the manufacturing, supply chain and quality systems that deliver reliable solutions at scale for our customers.”
Mongeau brings two decades of experience scaling hardware-led businesses. He most recently served as vice president of product development at SharkNinja, where he led product quality across the company’s full product portfolio.
Previously, he served as vice president of operations at ClearMotion, where he built the company’s manufacturing capabilities and led supply chain, quality and testing ahead of its first automotive OEM launch. He has also held roles at Amazon Robotics, Autoliv and Raytheon.
Expanding VEIR’s Leadership for Commercial Growth
The latest appointments build on VEIR’s continued expansion of its executive leadership. Earlier this year, the company appointed former AWS and Vertiv product leader Stephen Major as chief product officer to lead product vision and strategy across product management, program management and solutions engineering.
Major previously spent more than four years at Amazon Web Services, most recently as senior manager of data center infrastructure engineering and head of electrical products and services. In that role, he led electrical systems and product strategy and execution for the multi-gigawatt-scale AWS data center fleet. He previously held senior product and customer-facing leadership roles at Vertiv.
VEIR also recently added Lane Dilg and Stephen Liang as advisers, bringing additional experience across policy, AI infrastructure, next-generation computing and the scaling of transformative technologies.
The expanded leadership team and board additions come as VEIR builds on significant momentum to rapidly scale operations, commercialize superconducting power delivery and drive broader adoption across the data center ecosystem.
