Lyft Welcomes Ben Minicucci to Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Lyft (Nasdaq: LYFT) announced that Ben Minicucci has joined Lyft's Board of Directors, effective July 23, 2026. Minicucci is CEO and President of Alaska Air Group. He is the most recent director to join the Board, bringing public company, operating, and international experience as the company scales its ambitions, following the addition of AV safety and policy expert Deborah Hersman, who joined earlier this year.

"As Lyft grows, our Board grows and evolves with it. Ben has led a major public company through significant international expansion, and he's done it with a relentless focus on safety, operational excellence, and people,” said Lyft CEO David Risher. “We’ve long enjoyed collaborating with Alaska Airlines, sharing a similar culture of customer obsession. I couldn't be more excited to welcome Ben's perspective to our Board."

“Whether you're running an airline or a rideshare platform, success comes from earning trust, building loyalty, and offering a safe and reliable experience every day,” Minicucci said. “Lyft has built a strong brand and a clear focus on customers, and I'm excited to join the Board and work with the team as they continue to grow and create value for riders, drivers, and shareholders.”

Minicucci has spent more than two decades helping build Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air. He joined Alaska in 2004 after spending several years in technical operations at Air Canada.

Minicucci has led Alaska Air Group through sustained growth and change, overseeing two of the industry's most closely watched integrations, first with Alaska’s acquisition of Virgin America in 2016, and more recently leading Alaska's acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines in 2024, all while also growing Alaska's international footprint, global partnerships, and loyalty programs.

Minicucci holds a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and later completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He served 14 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Today, Minicucci is based in Seattle and enjoys cycling with friends and traveling around the world, especially Italy. He often uses Lyft after he lands at an airport, specifically Lyft XL so there’s room for his bicycle.
