Statements of Income

FHLBank’s net income totaled $102.2 million for the second quarter of 2026, compared to $111.7 million for the same prior-year period. The $9.5 million decrease in net income was driven primarily by the following:

  • Net interest income was $147.7 million for the second quarter of 2026, a decrease of $20.1 million from $167.8 million during the same prior-year period.
    • Interest income was $991.0 million for the second quarter of 2026, compared to $1,115.8 million in the same prior-year period. This decrease was driven by lower short-term interest rates partially offset by higher average assets.
    • Interest expense was $843.3 million for the second quarter of 2026, compared to $948.0 million in the same prior-year period. This decrease was the result of lower short-term interest rates partially offset by higher average consolidated obligations.
  • Noninterest income (loss) was $8.1 million for the second quarter of 2026, compared to $1.5 million in the same prior-year period. This $6.6 million increase was due primarily to valuation changes in FHLBank’s economic derivative portfolio.
  • Other expense was $32.2 million for the second quarter of 2026, relatively flat compared to $32.6 million in the same prior-year period.
  • Voluntary contributions to community products were $8.9 million, including a supplemental voluntary contribution to AHP of $1.0 million, for the second quarter of 2026, a decrease of $2.9 million compared to $11.8 million in the same prior-year period.
  • Statutory AHP assessments were $11.4 million as a result of second quarter 2026 earnings, compared to $12.5 million in the same prior-year period.

FHLBank’s net income totaled $191.7 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to $231.8 million for the same prior-year period. The $40.1 million decrease in net income was driven primarily by the following:

  • Net interest income was $280.9 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, a decrease of $59.1 million from $340.0 million during the same prior-year period.
    • Interest income was $1,789.9 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to $2,313.9 million in the same prior-year period. This decrease was driven by lower short-term interest rates and lower average advances.
    • Interest expense was $1,509.0 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to $1,973.9 million in the same prior-year period. This decrease was the result of lower short-term interest rates and lower average consolidated obligations.
  • Noninterest income was $9.3 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to $1.4 million in the same prior-year period. This $7.9 million increase was due primarily to valuation changes in FHLBank’s economic derivative portfolio.
  • Other expense was $60.3 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to $63.5 million in the same prior-year period. The decrease of $3.2 million was due primarily to lower assessments from the Finance Agency and the Office of Finance.
  • Voluntary contributions to community products were $14.4 million, including a supplemental voluntary contribution to AHP of $1.5 million, for the six months ended June 30, 2026, a decrease of $4.4 million compared to $18.8 million in the same prior-year period. FHLBank anticipates making voluntary contributions of at least 5% of the prior year’s pre-assessment net income to voluntary community products, a commitment target of at least $25.8 million.
  • Statutory AHP assessments were $21.4 million based on earnings for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to $25.8 million in the same prior-year period.

Statements of Condition

At June 30, 2026, total assets were $118.5 billion, compared with $73.3 billion at December 31, 2025. The increase was primarily due to an increase in advances, which totaled $77.7 billion at June 30, 2026, compared to $36.8 billion at year-end 2025. Demand for advances continues to fluctuate based on members’ liquidity management practices, which are influenced by their loan demand, deposit balances and investment activities.

Total capital at June 30, 2026, was $6.3 billion, compared to $4.6 billion at December 31, 2025, including retained earnings of $2.3 billion at June 30, 2026, compared to $2.2 billion at December 31, 2025. At June 30, 2026, FHLBank remained in compliance with all regulatory capital requirements.

Quarterly Dividends

The Board of Directors declared a dividend on subclass B1 (membership) stock equal to an annual yield of 5.50% and a dividend on subclass B2 (activity) stock equal to an annual yield of 9.75%. Dividends paid will be calculated on stockholders’ average balances during the period April 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026, and be credited to stockholders’ accounts on July 24, 2026.

The table presents the annualized dividend rate paid over eight quarters, including the dividend to be paid July 24, 2026; these dividends are based on stockholders’ average balances for the previous quarter.

Detailed financial information about the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2026, financial results will be available in FHLBank’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q, which FHLBank anticipates filing no later than August 12, 2026.
