GelSight Introduces Remote Assist, Bringing Real-Time Remote Collaboration to In-Situ Inspection

New standalone application lets a remote expert see the live sensor view and trigger scans from anywhere on the network, connecting the user at the part with decision-making experts wherever they are

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GelSight®, a pioneer in surface analysis technology, today announced the release of GelSight Remote Assist, a new standalone application that lets additional users on the same network view the GelSight live view in real time and trigger scans remotely. Built on the GelSight API, Remote Assist connects the person at the part with the person who needs to make the decision, no matter where they sit in the facility.

"Your engineering experts can't be everywhere. Now they don't have to be," said Youssef Benmokhtar, CEO of GelSight. "We believe Remote Assist is the first capability of its kind in the surface metrology and inspection space."

GelSight is used daily for challenging in-situ measurements, from inside fuel tanks to mezzanines accessing large structural components, environments where the person best positioned to operate the sensor and the person who needs to make the engineering decision are rarely in the same place. Remote Assist closes that gap. An engineer at a desk can now see exactly what the sensor sees, live, and trigger the scan the moment it's positioned correctly, while the inspector is still at the part. The result: no more capturing data, walking it back, and waiting for review, and no more repeat trips because the first scan missed the area of interest. The inspection and the engineering decision can happen in the same moment.

Key capabilities of GelSight Remote Assist include:

  • Remote live view: Watch the GelSight sensor feed in real time from any machine on the same network.
  • Remote scan triggering: Capture scans from the reviewing station the instant the sensor is in position.
  • Real-time collaboration: Inspector and engineer work the same inspection together, eliminating handoffs and rework.
  • Standalone application: Installs alongside your existing GelSight setup on any Windows computer, with no changes to your current workflow.

"Your engineering experts can't be everywhere. Now they don't have to be," said Youssef Benmokhtar, CEO of GelSight. "We believe Remote Assist is the first capability of its kind in the surface metrology and inspection space, extending GelSight's Any Material, Anywhere™ promise so that expertise no longer has to travel with the sensor.”

GelSight Remote Assist is available now and installs alongside existing GelSight systems on any Windows computer, built on the GelSight API. To request more information or schedule a demonstration, contact info@gelsight.com or visit gelsight.com.
