K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel To Open in the Detroit Metro Area This Fall With a State-of-the-Art Facility in Troy

Veteran Dog-Care Expert and Local Michigander Dionne Zick-Reep Hired as General Manager

TROY, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel, the multi-award-winning national pet care brand known for its cage-free dog boarding, five-star guest service, and enriching daycare services, announced today that it will open its newest location this fall in Troy, Michigan at 2966 Industrial Row Drive, adding a standout premium provider to the greater metro Detroit community.

"Opening a K9 Resorts location in Michigan is deeply personal for me," said Dionne Zick-Reep.

The 10,500-square-foot resort, which will also boast over 2,000 square feet of outdoor play areas, can accommodate over 100 dogs for daily boarding and daycare. Every detail — from the custom layout and sound-reducing walls to the hospital-grade clean protocols — reflects the high standards for which K9 Resorts has come to be known.

K9 Resorts Troy will be the 52nd location for the brand and its second in Michigan, with the other location in Grand Rapids. New Jersey-based K9 Resorts was founded in 2005 by Jason and Steven Parker, brothers who became industry pioneers as they helped evolve the commercial pet care industry over two decades. K9 Resorts has won six pet care excellence awards from the International Boarding & Pet Services Association (IBPSA), a leading global professional association, by far the most awards for any brand in the pet care space.

Troy also marks the 19th K9 Resorts location operated by Luxury Pet Hotel Investments, LLC (LPHI), the largest K9 Resorts franchisee by number of open resorts.

Earlier this year, local Michigander Dionne Zick-Reep, was tapped as general manager. A University of Michigan graduate, Zick-Reep pairs executive leadership in pet boarding with decades of hands-on experience in dog breeding, exhibiting, training, and advocacy. Her recent GM experience includes operating two premier pet resorts in the Charlotte, NC area. As an exhibitor, her dogs have won ribbons at the national level at the Westminster Kennel Club and AKC National Championships.

“The key to a well-run resort is about more than beautiful accommodations. It’s about genuine hospitality, earning trust that builds lasting relationships with pet owners, and providing knowledgeable, compassionate care that gives families complete confidence while they are away,” said Zick-Reep, General Manager of K9 Resorts Troy. "Opening a K9 Resorts location in Michigan is deeply personal for me, and I can't wait to give my home state’s pet parents the same top-notch service levels I would expect for my own dogs."

The K9 Resorts Difference

K9 Resorts Troy will offer year-round boarding, small and large dog group daycare, and individualized daycare options. The resort will feature signature elements like hospital-grade ventilation systems, antimicrobial flooring, all-inclusive meals, and spacious suites.

Grand Opening Specials

K9 Resorts Troy is now offering pre-opening specials, including 25% off five- or 10-day boarding packages and 50% bonus daycare days.

The resort has also introduced a limited-time Founders Pack membership, which features unlimited daycare and boarding for one low monthly rate — starting at $49 for the first month and then $299 per month for months two through 12. This special membership will not be offered again once the summer pre-sale period ends. Membership details and a sign-up form are available at k9resorts.com/troymi.

Local Economic Impact

LPHI will invest more than $3 million to build the K9 Resorts Troy location, with construction managed through 18 local subcontractors. Once fully staffed, the resort will employ approximately 23 people, including management.

The K9 Resorts Troy opening comes as the U.S. pet care industry topped $157 billion in spending in 2025. Roughly 87 million American households, or about two-thirds of the country, now own a dog, according to the American Pet Products Association — a customer base K9 Resorts is built specifically to serve.
