Bay Cities Celebrates 70th Anniversary Amid Record-Breaking Year

100% employee-owned retail packaging company marks the milestone during its strongest period of growth, supporting more than 700 brands across North America

PICO RIVERA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bay Cities, a leading designer and manufacturer of retail packaging and in-store displays, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this month, marking seven decades of growth that have positioned the company as one of North America's leading retail packaging partners. Today, the 100% employee-owned company helps brands navigate every stage of the retail journey, from packaging and displays to fulfillment, logistics, and retail execution.

The milestone comes during one of the strongest periods in the company's history. Over the past three years, the company has achieved:

  • 17.5% workforce growth
  • 10% year-over-year revenue growth
  • 92% customer retention rate

The company has also expanded its national footprint with:

  • A new sales and design office in Cincinnati
  • The acquisition of Premier Packaging, expanding into specialty beverage packaging and strengthening its fulfillment capabilities
  • Full ownership of Royal Bay, a 233,000-square-foot packout and fulfillment facility in Oak Forest, Illinois
  • Continued investment in digital printing, including Digital Print Partners in Chicago, along with automation, AI, and sustainable packaging innovation

Leadership Perspective: Growth Through Reinvention

"Reaching 70 years is a testament to the people, customers, and partners who have helped build Bay Cities over the decades," said Greg Tucker, Chairman and CEO of Bay Cities. "Many companies never reach this milestone. We've remained independent, employee-owned, and committed to evolving alongside our customers. While we're proud of our history, what excites me most is where we're headed next."

As the company enters its eighth decade, Bay Cities is also preparing for its next generation of leadership. Earlier this year, the company promoted Sahar Mehrabzadeh to Chief Revenue Officer, a newly created executive role overseeing all revenue-generating functions and leading client-facing departments. Her appointment also formalized the company's long-term succession plan, positioning her as the company’s CEO successor.

“Seventy years in business is an important milestone, but what I’m most proud of is the people behind it — our teams, our customers, and the long-standing relationships we’ve built along the way,” said Sahar Mehrabzadeh, CRO of Bay Cities. “We’ve grown from a corrugated box company into a strategic retail partner, helping brands navigate packaging, displays, fulfillment, sustainability, and changing consumer expectations. At every stage, it’s been about people — understanding their needs, solving real problems, and earning trust. As retail continues to evolve, we’re focused on building on that foundation and continuing to grow with the people we serve for the next 70 years.”

Industry Recognition and Sustainability Impact

Over the past two years, Bay Cities has earned multiple industry honors, including:

Additionally, Greg Tucker was selected to serve as the next Vice Chairman of the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF).

By combining structural and graphic design, retail displays, packaging, fulfillment, logistics, and retailer execution under one roof, Bay Cities helps brands navigate emerging challenges, including sustainability requirements, retail complexity, and changing shopper behavior.
