TechPoint Youth Announces Hands-On AI and Computer Science Program for 6,000 Indiana Students
18 schools receiving resources to thrive in an ever-changing STEM-driven world
INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today TechPoint Youth announces the launch of a new in-classroom learning initiative that will bring hands-on computer science, artificial intelligence, and science education to Indiana students through award-winning solutions from LEGO® Education. Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the program will be introduced in 18 schools to approximately 6,000 Indiana students in grades 3–8, addressing a critical and growing need for K–12 STEM programming that keeps pace with an increasingly technology-driven world.
“For over 45 years, LEGO Education has changed the way students learn with engaging and collaborative hands-on experiences that deliver strong learning outcomes,” said Alexander Mitchell, Vice President, US, LEGO Education.

Indiana’s technology economy is growing and the workforce that will power it is sitting in classrooms right now. 90% of jobs in Indiana already require some level of digital skill, yet only 7% of Indiana high school students are enrolled in a computer science course. The gap is even wider for girls, students in rural communities, and those from lower-income families. TechPoint Youth is prioritizing the introduction of LEGO Education to change that. They're giving students, particularly those from communities historically underrepresented in STEM, access to high-quality, hands-on curriculum in their own classrooms, so they can discover an interest in STEM careers and pursue them.
"AI and Computer Science education has to begin in elementary school,” said Jamie Inskeep, President and CEO of TechPoint Youth. “The reality is that technology isn't waiting for students to catch up and neither can we. TechPoint Youth exists to make sure Indiana students aren't left behind. This program is about closing that gap before it becomes permanent."
The initiative launches with two learning tracks. The first track, LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI, will be implemented by 15 teachers across the state including districts such as IPS, MSD Lawrence Township, and South Bend Community Schools. It introduces students to foundational coding concepts, algorithms, and age-appropriate artificial intelligence literacy through collaborative experiences. The second track, LEGO® Education Science, will be piloted by three additional teachers and delivers science education through the same inquiry-based, student-led model.
“For over 45 years, LEGO Education has changed the way students learn with engaging and collaborative hands-on experiences that deliver strong learning outcomes,” said Alexander Mitchell, Vice President, US, LEGO Education. “Our research shows students in hands-on learning environments are four times happier and five times more confident than their peers in traditional classroom settings. We’re excited to see that reach more students through this initiative so they can build the skills they need to shape the future.”
Each classroom will be outfitted with kits for up to 32 students. Teachers will begin training with LEGO Education experts this month through in-person facilitated sessions and virtual cohort check-ins co-hosted with TechPoint Youth. These sessions will continue into the spring. No student devices or consumable materials are required, making implementation straightforward and sustainable.
The curriculum is directly aligned to Indiana standards across all grade bands. This includes ILEARN Science test benchmarks in grades 4 and 6 and more than 120 lessons aligned to Indiana’s Next Generation Science Standards. The tracks are designed for K–8 classrooms, with the current cohort serving grades 3–8.
