Teledyne Introduces Emerald 67M-Based Space Camera Enabled by SDL Licensing Agreement

New high-resolution camera combines SDL-developed sensor electronics technology with Teledyne’s Emerald 67M CMOS image sensor and U.S.-based space imaging manufacturing expertise.


TRENTON, N.J. & LOGAN, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Teledyne Digital Imaging US, Inc., a Teledyne Technologies company, today announced a new high-resolution space-ready camera based on its Emerald™ 67M CMOS image sensor. The camera is enabled by an intellectual property licensing agreement with Space Dynamics Laboratory that gives Teledyne rights to commercialize SDL-developed sensor electronics technology.

The licensed technology includes sensor electronics designs, software, technical data, and related engineering expertise. Teledyne will further develop, manufacture, and support products incorporating the technology for government and commercial customers, pairing SDL’s flight-proven camera development experience with Teledyne’s high-performance imaging sensors and space-grade manufacturing capabilities.

The Emerald 67M is a 67-megapixel CMOS sensor designed for high-resolution, fast-acquisition imaging, with high dynamic range, low noise, and global shutter operation for clear capture in complex environments. Derived from a high-volume industrial platform, it can be qualified for space mission requirements including radiation, thermal cycling, and vibration, providing mission operators and system integrators with a scalable imaging solution supported by U.S.-based engineering and manufacturing resources.
