LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Global music continues to erase borders as JIHYO, from the record-breaking K-pop group TWICE, joins forces with GRAMMY®-nominated Jamaican artist Shenseea for their electrifying new collaboration, “Distant Lover,” arriving worldwide on July 10th, along with its official music video, which will also be released the same day.
Blending K-pop, rap, dancehall, and Afrobeats influences into an irresistible summer soundtrack, “Distant Lover” pairs two of music’s most dynamic female artists for a cross-market collaboration that reflects the increasingly global nature of today’s music landscape - where genres blur, audiences span continents, and fandoms are more connected than ever.
At its heart, “Distant Lover” captures one of modern dating’s most relatable experiences: the situationship. From dating apps to mixed signals to investing in the wrong person, the track explores the emotional limbo between romance and reality - the moment when what feels like something meaningful turns out to be anything but. Equal parts confident, playful, and empowering, JIHYO and Shenseea transform that all-too-familiar “in-between” phase into an anthem for anyone who’s been there.
The collaboration also showcases a fresh creative side from both artists. JIHYO's rich, soulful vocals effortlessly complement Shenseea's unmistakable flow and dancehall swagger, creating a record that feels both unexpected and instantly infectious.
“Distant Lover” marks the latest release from FANDOM, the fan-owned project launched by Musicow in partnership with Roc Nation Distribution that connects artists, music, and fans in new ways. The platform’s rollout began with its first collaboration single, January’s “Two Car Garage” by Jon Bellion and Swae Lee, which has generated 4.9 million streams to date, including 3.69 million on Spotify and 653,000 on Apple Music, alongside strong TikTok momentum with 160.8K+ creations driving over 256 million views.
Building on that foundation, FANDOM’s second collaboration in May, “Something Special,” features actor and singer Ahn Hyo Seop and multi-platinum artist Khalid, and has generated more than 7.2 million global streams, including 5.9 million on Spotify and 239,000 on Apple Music, while its official lyric video has surpassed 988,000 views. The song has also sparked significant fan engagement across social media, generating more than 26 million views across TikTok and Instagram sounds and inspiring over 18,000 user-created videos, further establishing FANDOM's mission of bringing together artists from different cultures, genres, and audiences through one-of-a-kind creative partnerships.
As international collaborations continue to reshape the industry, “Distant Lover” stands as another example of music’s growing ability to transcend geography, language, and genre - bringing together two globally celebrated artists for one unforgettable summer release.
“Distant Lover” will be available on all major streaming platforms beginning July 10th. Unique box sets will also be available soon with limited edition photo cards and posters.
