AIHA Announces New 2026-2027 Board Members, Prepares for Inaugural Strategic Meeting in Houston, TX

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AIHA, the association for occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals, inducted the new members of its 2026-2027 Board of Directors at the annual business meeting held during the AIHA Connect 2026 conference in New Orleans, LA. The AIHA Board will commence its first Strategic Planning meeting in July in Houston, TX, site of AIHA Connect 2027.

The 2026-2027 Board of Directors includes officers:

President: Nancy M. McClellan, MPH, CIH, CHMM

President-Elect: Cheryl Marcham, PhD, CIH, CSP, CHMM, FAIHA

Vice President: Bryan Seal, PhD, CIH, CSP, CHMM, REHS

Sloan expressed his appreciation for the invaluable contributions made to AIHA by the outgoing Board members: Nicole M.H. Greeson, MS, CIH, former past president; Lucinette Alvarado Rivera, CIH, former treasurer; and John R. Moore III, CIH, CSP, former director-at-large. “Our Board members generously dedicate significant time and effort throughout their service, and we are deeply appreciative,” said Sloan. “Their contributions to AIHA will leave a lasting impact on our organization and help advance the health and safety of workers and communities worldwide.”

Details of Newly Elected 2026-2027 Board Members:

Bryan Seal, PhD, CIH, CSP, CHMM, REHS, was elected Vice President. Seal has previously served on the board as a director-at-large and has volunteered with several AIHA groups and initiatives, including the Principles of Good Practice Advisory Group, the Content Priorities Advisory Group, the Academic Advisory Group, and as Chair of the Exposure Banding Committee. He has contributed to AIHA publications, including “Core Competencies: For the Practice of Industrial/Occupational Hygiene” and multiple Synergist articles. Seal is currently an Associate Professor and Assistant Chair at the Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Carra Herring, CIH, CSP, was elected director-at-large. Herring served as Secretary, Vice President, and President of the Carolinas AIHA Local Section from 2020-2024. She is a member of the Women in Industrial Hygiene Committee. Herring is an Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health Manager at Martin Marietta.

Spencer Pizzani, CIH, DOSH, was elected director-at-large. Pizzani was the Secretary of the Real Time Detection Systems Committee. He also serves on the Improving Exposure Judgments Advisory Group; Big Data, Sensor Technology, and AI Working Group; and led the team that authored the “Susceptible Worker Protection” technical framework. He is the lead author of two peer-reviewed JOEH articles on the ATHENA heuristic, an algorithm for analyzing time-series data. He has contributed to several other AIHA bodies of work, including the “Guidance on Use of Direct Reading Instruments” technical framework. Pizzani is the Global Industrial Hygiene Program Manager at PepsiCo.
