SBSB Strengthens Maritime and Defense Practice with Addition of Veteran Litigator Stacey Norstrud

Renowned litigator brings record of major casualty response to firm

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea & BenMaier (SBSB) is pleased to announce the addition of veteran maritime attorney Stacey Norstrud to the firm’s premier litigation team.

Ms. Norstrud, who joins SBSB as a partner in the firm’s Houston office, has more than two decades of high-stakes civil litigation and disaster response experience that will bolster the firm’s defense capabilities across the Gulf Coast and internationally.

Born and raised along the Gulf Coast, Ms. Norstrud has a deep-seated passion for maritime law that stems from a lifetime on the water. This connection to the maritime industry naturally evolved into a distinguished 25-year career primarily focused on Jones Act defense and maritime-related civil litigation.

“Joining SBSB feels like a natural next step in my career. The firm has earned a reputation for top-tier defense work, particularly within the maritime sector,” said Ms. Norstrud. “Having spent my life on the water, I know the operational pressures our clients face, and I am thrilled to bring my experience to a team that shares my deep commitment to protecting the maritime industry.”

Ms. Norstrud has built an exceptional track record in major marine casualty cases. Her corporate insight comes from working in-house with the shipping department of a major global oil company, bolstering her understanding of commercial maritime operations.

“Stacey’s incredible depth of experience and unique perspectives from major corporate shipping operations make her an invaluable asset to our team,” said SBSB managing partner John Schouest. “Her proven ability to manage complex multi-jurisdictional challenges aligns perfectly with our firm’s commitment to providing exceptional defense representation.”

Ms. Norstrud has played major roles in some of the most significant environmental and industrial responses in history, including the 2005 Thunder Horse incident, the 2010 Deepwater Horizon response and the 2010 Gulf Coast Restoration.
