Gregory & Appel Welcomes Matt Heincker as Employee Benefits Practice Leader

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gregory & Appel Insurance (G&A), a fiercely independent insurance and risk management advisor, announced that Matt Heincker has joined the organization as Employee Benefits Practice Leader. In his role, Heincker will help lead the growth of the Employee Benefits practice while developing a high-performing team of consultants who deliver a superior client experience.

Heincker brings nearly 20 years of experience in employee benefits brokerage and leadership roles throughout Central Indiana. Known for bringing a custom, finance-focused approach to employee benefits, he helps employers manage costs, evaluate funding strategies, improve plan performance, and build programs that support both their people and long-term business goals. He has advised mid-market and large employers across industries including manufacturing and logistics, with specialties in self-funding, cost containment, alternative funding, risk mapping, and plan optimization.

His addition marks an important step in Gregory & Appel’s continued investment in its Employee Benefits practice. As employers face rising healthcare costs, changing workforce expectations, and more complex funding decisions, G&A is optimizing a consulting practice designed to bring stronger strategy, sharper guidance, and measurable value to the benefits conversation.

“Matt brings the combination of strategic advisory experience and market leadership that is important to the future of our Employee Benefits practice,” said Andrew Appel, CEO of Gregory & Appel. “Employers are making decisions today that affect their people and their long-term business plans. Matt understands how to connect all the moving pieces and equip clients to move forward with confidence.”

For G&A clients, that means deeper expertise at a time when benefits decisions carry more weight than ever. Employee benefits are no longer just an annual renewal conversation. They affect talent, retention, culture, cost control and long-term planning.

“Employee benefits has become one of the most important business strategy conversations employers are having,” said David Fischer, Chief Revenue Officer of Gregory & Appel. “Matt’s experience with self-funding, cost containment, risk mapping and plan optimization will help us continue enhancing a practice that brings measurable value to those conversations.”

“I’m excited to join a team that goes beyond placing benefits programs and helps employers make smarter, more sustainable decisions for their people and their business,” said Heincker. “Gregory & Appel has a strong foundation, a talented team and a clear commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience. I look forward to building on that momentum and helping employers approach benefits with more clarity and purpose.”
