FLIR Marine Introduces Ocean Scout Pro II Thermal Monocular for Marine Law Enforcement and First Responders

New handheld marine thermal camera is designed for long-range marine operations.

HUDSON, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FLIR Marine, a Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY) company, today announced the launch of Ocean Scout Pro II, a next-generation handheld thermal imaging monocular engineered for professional mariners, marine law enforcement professionals and first responders who need reliable long-range detection and clear target identification in low-visibility conditions.

Building on the award-winning Ocean Scout Pro platform, the FLIR Ocean Scout Pro II introduces new optics optimized for distance-focused surveillance and search operations. Featuring a 35 mm manual-focus lens and an 18-degree field of view, the new marine thermal monocular enables detection of human heat signatures at distances up to 3,280 feet (1,000 meters), providing earlier awareness and improved decision-making during offshore patrols, coordinated search-and-rescue missions and night operations.

“Marine professionals and law enforcement officers need tools that work instantly and reliably when visibility is limited and time matters,” said Michelle Hildyard, General Manager of Teledyne’s FLIR Marine brand. “Ocean Scout Pro II was developed in close collaboration with public safety and maritime professionals to deliver long-range performance without added complexity, allowing users to stay focused on the situation at hand.”

Optimized for long-range marine operations

Ocean Scout Pro II is designed for users who prioritize deliberate observation and extended reach over wide-area scanning. The narrower field of view and manual focus allow operators to quickly sharpen and confirm distant targets. FLIR Marine’s advanced thermal image-enhancement technologies help reveal low-contrast targets in complex maritime environments, enabling reliable detection of people, vessels and hazards in total darkness.

Engineered for professional use, Ocean Scout Pro II is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. The monocular’s integrated battery provides up to six hours of continuous operation, and its ergonomic five-button controls are glove-friendly. Wireless image and video streaming via the FLIR Responder mobile app supports evidence collection and simplifies file storage and retrieval. Ocean Scout Pro II is backed by a five-year limited warranty and is available now through FLIR Marine dealers and authorized distributors worldwide.
