World Cup 2026 Host Cities Rely on Everbridge for Public Safety Communications

Agencies across major host markets are leveraging Everbridge to keep residents and visitors informed during one of the world’s largest sporting events.

VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As cities across North America prepare to welcome millions of visitors during World Cup 2026, public safety agencies and emergency management organizations are expanding efforts to keep residents, travelers, and event attendees informed through trusted public warning and critical communications systems powered by Everbridge.

Several host cities are leveraging Everbridge to support public safety communications related to severe weather, transportation impacts, emergency notifications, traffic management, and large-scale event operations throughout the tournament.

In the Los Angeles region, Alert SouthBay has launched multilingual and mobile-first outreach to support locals and international visitors traveling to matches and surrounding events. The organization is promoting the mobile app keyword “FIFALA26” to help visitors stay informed during tournament activities.

“Large-scale global events create a unique communications challenge because you’re supporting not only residents, but millions of visitors who may be unfamiliar with local emergency procedures, weather risks, transportation systems, and public safety resources,” said Soraya Sutherlin, Regional Emergency Communications Manager for Alert SouthBay. “Our goal is to make trusted, timely information easy to access before and during the tournament, especially for international visitors traveling throughout the region.”

“The Everbridge system gives us a reliable and consistent way to communicate with the public across multiple channels at once,” added Dr. Crystal McGlover, Emergency Manager at City of Inglewood Emergency Management and Protective Services Department.

Meanwhile, agencies supporting the New York and New Jersey host market are deploying public awareness campaigns and digital signage throughout major transit hubs, including at New York Penn Station, encouraging residents and visitors to enroll in emergency notifications and stay informed during the event.

In Philadelphia, officials launched a dedicated “CupPHL” enrollment initiative tied to tournament communications. Similar efforts are underway across other host regions leveraging Everbridge, including Houston, Kansas City, Miami-Dade County, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

“The World Cup will bring an unprecedented scale of travel, activity, and operational coordination across multiple cities and regions,” said Dave Wagner, President and CEO of Everbridge. “Public safety leaders are focused on making sure residents and visitors receive accurate information quickly during rapidly evolving situations, whether related to severe weather, transportation disruptions, security incidents, or broader operational updates. We’re proud to support many of the agencies helping communities manage events of this scale.”

Ahead of the tournament, Everbridge has published additional resources focused on seasonal weather risks, travel security, and threat intelligence considerations tied to World Cup operations across North America.

Everbridge supports communications and operational coordination for many of the world’s largest public gatherings and high-profile events, including the Boston Marathon, championship sporting events, parades, concerts, and other large-scale public safety operations across North America and globally.
