FiscalNote Expands PolicyNote API, Adding Local Government Intelligence to Enterprise and AI Agent Workflows
Brings the richest local government intelligence database, including 12,000+ municipalities and 4,000+ school districts, into the same API enterprises already used for legislative and regulatory intelligence
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FiscalNote Holdings, Inc. (OTC: NOTE), a global leader in AI-driven policy and regulatory intelligence, today announced the expansion of the PolicyNote API to include local policy data. Organizations already integrated with the PolicyNote API can now add local policy data as an incremental subscription to their existing access, with no new contractor, onboarding, or additional integration work required. The expansion extends FiscalNote’s programmatic policy intelligence to more than 12,000 US cities and counties — a layer of government activity that has traditionally been difficult to monitor at scale.
For enterprises monitoring regulatory risk, compliance exposure, and government affairs across jurisdictions, federal and state feeds have never told the full story. City council votes, school board decisions, planning commission rulings, and local referendums shape business conditions just as consequentially as legislation, but they do not appear in any bill or regulation feed because they are not bills or regulations. Monitoring this activity at scale requires programmatic access to a data source with genuine breadth and depth of coverage, and the PolicyNote API now provides it.
FiscalNote’s local policy data monitors more than 400,000 meeting minutes, agendas, and planning documents every week across more than 12,000 US cities and counties, 4,000+ school districts, and 200+ state boards. The dataset includes 400+ pre-built topic filters spanning areas including alcohol, broadband, short-term rentals, zoning, cannabis, and hazard pay, as well as more than 168,000 local government contact records. Through the PolicyNote API, enterprises and AI agents can now query this data alongside FiscalNote's existing legislative and regulatory intelligence, using the same credentials, the same credit pool, and no additional integration work.
This addition extends FiscalNote’s strategy of making its proprietary intelligence available programmatically across enterprise workflows and AI agent ecosystems, including through its native Model Context Protocol (MCP) support. Local policy data is available immediately through the PolicyNote API’s REST endpoints. As customers combine this intelligence with their own internal data, workflows, and AI agents, it becomes more than a data feed: it becomes the intelligence layer that drives decisions across every level of government.
The expansion also creates direct commercial opportunities for enterprises using the API. Local government data surfaces procurement signals that federal and state feeds miss entirely: a school district’s budget discussion, a county procurement committee agenda, a planning commission vote that precedes a formal RFP by months. For organizations that sell into government, access to that intelligence at scale represents a meaningful source of pipeline opportunity. As customers embed this data alongside FiscalNote’s legislative and regulatory intelligence into their own workflows and AI agents, the combined dataset becomes more central to how they operate, driving deeper engagement and higher contract values over time.
"The policy and procurement decisions that affect enterprises often start in a city council chamber, a school board meeting, or a planning commission hearing," said Josh Resnik, CEO and President of FiscalNote. "Adding this important data to the PolicyNote API gives our customers the earliest possible signal across every level of government, embedded directly into the workflows and AI agents they already use. No one else offers a programmatic intelligence layer that combines this depth of local government coverage with federal, state, and global policy intelligence. That combination is what makes the PolicyNote API the source enterprises can depend on."
