St. Jude Corvette Drive Marks 15 Years of Impact for Families Across U.S.

More than 140 Corvettes travel to Memphis in multi-state fundraising tradition

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The annual St. Jude Corvette Drive raced into its 15th year as a fleet of more than 140 Corvettes arrived in Memphis today, raising $750,315 this year for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.

“The event is about far more than the cars we admire,” said Andrew Black, president of the St. Jude Corvette Drive. “It’s about the lives impacted, the hope carried forward, and the shared commitment to children and families who rely on St. Jude every day.

When it began in 2012, the St. Jude Corvette Drive followed a single route from Peoria, Ill., to Memphis. Today, it is a six-state event that has raised more than $4 million cumulatively to help advance research and treatment by St. Jude for children with cancer and other life‑threatening diseases. Funds like this help St. Jude to continue providing care to patients from all 50 states while never billing families for treatment, travel, housing, or food.

“The event is about far more than the cars we admire,” said Andrew Black, president of the St. Jude Corvette Drive. “It’s about the lives impacted, the hope carried forward, and the shared commitment to children and families who rely on St. Jude every day.”

This year, drivers traveled from Peoria, Ill., Nashville, Tenn., Louisville, Ky., St. Louis, Mo., Rensselaer, Ind., and the Great Lakes region of Mich., reflecting the event’s reach and the commitment of supporters who travel hundreds of miles to show up for St. Jude. Drivers participate for many reasons—whether in honor of St. Jude patients, in memory of loved ones, or simply because they have formed a tight-knit community with fellow drivers over the years.

The St. Jude Corvette Drive is a sister event to St. Jude Rides, a motorcycle-themed event celebrating its 20th year this September, and St. Jude Runs, where hundreds of people will run, relay-style, 465 miles from Memphis to Peoria this August, continuing a now 45-year legacy of steadfast support.
