Kalos Ventures Announces Oversubscribed $78.8M Inaugural Fund to Back Early-Stage Companies Advancing Workforce, Care and Education

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kalos Ventures Management, LLC (Kalos), an early-stage, thesis-driven venture capital firm, today announced its oversubscribed $78.8 million inaugural fund. The fund is building a concentrated portfolio of early-stage technology companies addressing critical infrastructure needs across the workforce, care and education. The fund’s investors include ZOMA Capital, GCM Grosvenor, MassMutual, Sorenson Impact Advisory and Pivotal Ventures, a Melinda French Gates organization.

Over the next two to three years, 50-55% of U.S. jobs will be reshaped by AI and by 2034, older adults will outnumber children for the first time in U.S. history. Responding to these converging forces, Kalos invests with conviction, leading early-stage investments in companies led by experienced founders with unique insight into these growing challenges and opportunities. Kalos’ approach is grounded in long-term partnerships beyond capital, offering advisory on the capital formation, ecosystem building and talent strategy required for portfolio companies to scale.

“Our founders are building real solutions to help people thrive in this time of major societal and economic upheaval, and Kalos is positioned at the center of this transformation,” said Ashley Bittner, Managing Partner of Kalos. “We take an intentional, hands-on approach with our investments, writing lead checks and rolling up our sleeves with every founder we back. We measure our impact by what we contribute to our founders beyond capital.”

When founding Kalos, Ashley drew on more than a decade of experience investing across these sectors. Her approach is informed by her experience in early-stage, sector-focused investing at Owl Ventures ($2B AUM), her role as a Special Assistant in the Obama Administration Department of Education and her time as a teacher in the Bronx through Teach for America. She has served on 19 boards, including current roles with Transfr, Tilt, Mirza and Manifest.

“The success of Kalos Ventures’ latest fund underscores the need to meet the demands of radical shifts in the future of work and our aging population,” said Erin Harkless Moore, Managing Director of Investments at Pivotal Ventures. “So much of what companies need to scale comes down to the ability to access the right tools and advisors. Ashley and her team understand this deeply and have carefully built a portfolio of companies that are changing how we work, learn and age.”

Kalos is built on the strength of an all-women founding team. Renée Beaumont, Partner, brings more than 25 years of investment experience spanning Goldman Sachs, Providence Equity and Generation Investment Management. Kate Ballinger, Principal, has been instrumental in building the firm since its inception. Toni Alejandria, Head of Investor Relations and Community, brings a decade of experience scaling venture funds and communities. Together, their investment and operating expertise positions Kalos to identify pre-consensus opportunities, invest with conviction and provide meaningful support to portfolio companies long after the initial check.

“We are thrilled to invest with a team focused on supporting companies that are radically transforming sectors fundamental to the human experience,” said Lauren Sercu, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Sorenson Impact Advisory. “In this complex macroeconomic environment, founders in work, care and education are looking for hands-on support to navigate moments that are crucial for long-term success. Kalos is set up to execute on this and be that first call.”

The firm’s current portfolio of investments includes Manifest, an AI-native platform for SMB owners founded by Sarah Horn, Rosarium Health, a tech platform facilitating home modifications for aging in place founded by Cameron Carter, and a company in stealth founded by Jeff Wald.
