PlayLA Opens Summer 2026 Youth Sports Registration, Bringing the Olympic Spirit to LA Kids Citywide

Registration opens May 4th to all families in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This summer, the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks invites families across Los Angeles to get moving with PlayLA Youth and Adaptive Youth Sports. Registration is open May 4th for summer leagues, classes and clinics, offering affordable and inclusive access to sports leagues and opportunities at recreation centers, aquatic facilities and partner sites across the city. Programming runs from July through September 2026 and is open to youth ages 3–17.

Families can view available youth and adaptive sports offerings at LAParks.org or through the LA Parks mobile app.

Made possible by the historic $160 million investment from the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), PlayLA continues its mission to deliver high-quality, low-cost programming for youth of all abilities, with most programs offered starting at $10 per season and scholarships available for qualifying families.

Recreation Leagues:

Registration for summer recreation leagues opens May 4, with the first games beginning July 11. This summer’s league offerings include Swim, Artistic Swim, Dive, Water Polo, Para Surf, Girls Play LA (GPLA) Volleyball, GPLA/Co-Rec Soccer, GPLA/Co-Rec Flag Football, GPLA/Co-Rec Basketball, and Wheelchair Basketball. Leagues run through August 29, with citywide championships featuring Artistic Swim, Swim and Water Polo this season.

Classes and Clinics:

Registration for summer classes and clinics opens June 8, with eight-week sessions beginning the week of July 13 and running through September 5. This summer, participants are invited to try something new, build new skills and have fun exploring a wide range of activities from dance, skateboarding, track and field, boxing, martial arts and more.

Aquatic Signature Sports:

There will be extensive aquatics activities including:

  • Surfing
  • Kayaking
  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding
  • United Water Polo
  • USA Swim
  • Other Unique lesson and clinics

Adaptive Youth Sports:

PlayLA Adaptive Clinics registration opens alongside summer classes and clinics, providing inclusive opportunities for youth of all abilities. These clinics are designed to create safe, supportive and engaging environments where youth with disabilities can participate, compete and thrive:

  • Adaptive Golf
  • Para Surf
  • Adaptive Pickleball
  • Adaptive Athletics
  • Adaptive Kayaking
  • Adaptive Swimming
  • Adaptive Skateboarding
