At VRC, Nunes will focus on advancing the firm’s market data and research capabilities, supporting clients across portfolio valuation and transaction-related valuation matters.
Nunes brings more than 25 years of experience in valuation, financial reporting, and tax, including senior leadership roles at Kroll (formerly Duff & Phelps), where she most recently served in the Office of Professional Practice. In that role, she provided firmwide technical guidance on complex valuation matters and contributed to the development and application of valuation standards across global teams.
Nunes also served as the Global Leader of Kroll’s Valuation Digital Solutions group, overseeing the development of cost of capital thought leadership and data-driven tools, including the Cost of Capital Navigator, an online platform. She is a recognized authority in the topic of cost of capital and a co-author of the Valuation Handbook series, widely used by valuation, accounting, and finance professionals.
“Carla’s experience sits at the intersection of technical rigor, market data, and practical application,” said PJ Patel, Co-CEO of VRC. “Her background strengthens our ability to deliver well-supported, data-informed valuation analyses, particularly as clients navigate increasingly complex markets and heightened expectations around transparency and consistency.”
“Carla’s addition reflects our continued investment in the depth and scale of VRC’s valuation and market data capabilities,” said John Czapla, Chairman of VRC. “Her 25+ years of expertise around capital market data, private market economics, hands-on research analytics and valuation practice leadership will add material value for clients across both transaction and portfolio valuation engagements as we continue to evolve our next-generation research and analytics platform.”
Earlier in her career, Nunes performed valuation engagements for financial reporting and tax purposes at Kroll and its predecessor firm, as well as at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Standard & Poor’s. She also completed a one-year rotation in London, supporting IFRS implementation and international valuation initiatives.
Nunes devotes significant time to the valuation profession. She is a member of the Financial Reporting Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants, the Education Committee of the International Institute of Business Valuers, and the IVSC SRB ESG and Sustainability Working Group, and is an inaugural member of the BVR Leadership Council. Nunes is a frequent speaker on cost of capital, goodwill impairment, and valuation topics, and is a regular guest lecturer at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
