BOBS® from Skechers® Partners With Best Friends Animal Society to Help Save Pets in Shelters
The Footwear Company Will Donate $500,000 This Year to Help Get Dogs and Cats Out of Shelters and Into Loving Homes
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BOBS® from Skechers® is proud to continue its lifesaving mission for pets in shelters through a renewed partnership with leading national non-profit Best Friends Animal Society. Together, the organizations share a common goal: to help every dog and cat experience total support and safety in a loving home. Launching this May in honor of National Pet Month and running through the end of the year, BOBS from Skechers will donate $500,000 to Best Friends to support its work to save every healthy and treatable pet in shelters.
“Best Friends Animal Society has a special place in BOBS history. When we launched our philanthropic movement to save shelter dogs and cats in 2015, it was with Best Friends,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “To date, BOBS has donated more than $14 million that has helped save and support over two million animals across the country and internationally. We’ve hosted adoption events, raised lifesaving funds through register round-ups at Skechers stores, and launched the Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship to spotlight creative students and rescue animals. We are excited to reunite with Best Friends and work together to save them all.”
The partnership will be celebrated through pet adoption events hosted by Skechers and Best Friends at Skechers stores throughout the month in collaboration with local shelters. Each event will bring adoptable dogs and cats front and center in their communities, helping to give them a chance at a loving home:
- May 2 - West Clifton, NJ with Bergen County Animal Shelter
- May 7 - Salt Lake City, UT with Weber County Animal Shelter
- May 16 - Pittsburgh, PA with Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh
- May 23 - Miami with Humane Society of Greater Miami
In addition, Skechers retail stores nationwide will host a month-long register roundup throughout May, inviting customers to support Best Friends and help raise critical funds for dogs and cats in shelters.
“Best Friends is incredibly excited to reunite with BOBS from Skechers, a partnership that we know will have a meaningful impact on pets in shelters,” says Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “Our newest data shows that more than two out of three shelters are now no-kill, and hundreds more are within reach of that milestone. With support from partners like Skechers and community members around the country, we can achieve a day when no dog or cat dies in a shelter simply because they don’t have a safe place to call home.”
Skechers will also spotlight the next generation of animal advocates in May through the launch of two new designs from winners of the Company’s Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship. This year’s winners, Anelya Sapar from the School of Visual Arts and Elle Dalby from Penn State, created cat- and dog-themed patterns inspired by rescue pets and shared their personal stories with their furry family members. The annual program awards winners with $10,000 college scholarships, individual mentoring sessions and production of their prints on BOBS from Skechers shoes; this year’s limited-edition BOBS Paws for a Cause styles will be available at select Skechers stores and on skechers.com.
Consumers can shop the BOBS from Skechers offering online and at Skechers retail stores as well as department and specialty retailers. To learn more about the collection and the brand’s lifesaving mission, follow BOBS on Facebook and Instagram or visit BOBSfromSkechers.com.
