Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp Expands Its National Practice and New York Office With the Addition of Labor Partner

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (MSK) is pleased to announce that Carlos A. Torrejon has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office. Torrejon brings extensive experience in traditional labor law, deepening MSK’s Labor & Employment practice and further strengthening its bi-coastal capabilities. Torrejon joins the firm from Paul Hastings, where he served as of counsel in the firm’s Employment Law practice.

Torrejon's hire builds on MSK's recent momentum. Earlier this month, the firm added Amy Stein Simonds to its Entertainment Transactions practice as a partner in the New York office, following several additions to the labor relations team on the East Coast last year. Together, these new hires reflect MSK's strategy to expand its core areas of practice and deepen its bench on both coasts.

"Carlos is a standout labor attorney whose depth of experience, from the National Labor Relations Board to the bargaining table, makes him a tremendous asset to our clients and to this firm,” said MSK Chairman Yakub Hazzard. “His arrival reflects our continued commitment to growing MSK with attorneys of the highest caliber."

Torrejon represents employers across a broad range of traditional labor matters, advising clients in industries including hospitality, real estate, manufacturing, healthcare, and education on all aspects of labor relations under the National Labor Relations Act. His work spans defending unfair labor practice charges, navigating representation case proceedings before NLRB Regional offices, administrative law judges, and the Board, and representing clients in grievance and labor arbitration proceedings. A significant focus of his practice involves advising hotel ownership groups, real estate development firms, and institutional lenders on the organized labor considerations associated with acquisitions and transactions.

“Joining MSK at this point in the firm's growth is an exciting opportunity. Employers today face an increasingly complex labor landscape and having the right counsel is critical,” said Torrejon. “I look forward to working with this team to build on the firm's foundation and continuing to represent clients across the full range of their labor relations needs.”

Before entering private practice, Torrejon served as a Field Attorney with the NLRB in Region 28, where he investigated and prosecuted unfair labor practice charges on behalf of the General Counsel, giving him a distinctive perspective when representing employers in NLRB proceedings. He also has extensive experience serving as lead negotiator in collective bargaining and provides strategic guidance during union organizing campaigns and strike preparation.
