Community Health Systems Supports Local Communities With Fourth Annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive and Doctors’ Day Donations

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) (“CHS”) has announced the results of two signature programs designed to support every community served by the CHS organization. This year marked the fourth annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive and Doctors’ Day Donations program.

Doctors’ Day Donations

CHS-affiliated hospitals celebrated National Doctors’ Day last week by donating $236,000 to charitable organizations that address social determinants of health and improve quality of life for local residents. Doctors’ Day recognizes physicians for their medical expertise, compassion and leadership, as well as the role they play in advancing the health of their communities.

In honor of the medical staff at each CHS-affiliated hospital, this year’s Doctors’ Day donations will help fund a wide range of community support services, including local food banks, shelter for homeless families, programs that support pregnant women and new mothers, youth enrichment initiatives, resources for cancer patients and their families, and much more. Since its inception in 2023, the CHS Doctors’ Day Donations program has provided nearly $1 million to charitable organizations.

“Every single day, our physicians bring hope and healing to their patients, and we want to celebrate those contributions in a very meaningful way,” said Kevin Hammons, Chief Executive Officer of Community Health Systems, Inc. “Physicians provide excellent medical care, but often people in our communities need additional support to ensure good health and wellbeing. Donations made in honor of our doctors is one small way that we can thank our physicians and also support critically needed community services.”

Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive

During the month of March, thanks to the generosity of employees, physicians, and community partners, more than 200,000 jars of peanut and other nut butters were collected as part of CHS’ annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive. This enterprise-wide initiative to fight hunger was launched because peanut butter, with its high nutritional value and long shelf life, is one of the most requested items by food banks. Since 2023, the Jars of Love drive has collected enough peanut butter to make more than seven million peanut butter sandwiches.

“There are too many families who need help to put meals on the table, which is why we’re proud to partner with local food banks that work day in and day out to support people who need assistance in our communities,” said Hammons. “Every year, we all look forward to our Jars of Love peanut butter drive and coming together as an organization for a common and important cause – fighting hunger. I’m so proud of the generosity of our employees and truly appreciate their desire to help others in their communities.”
