  • This milestone advances Versa’s FedRAMP® High Ready designation, providing industry-leading SD-WANaaS, NGFWaaS, and comprehensive SASEaaS.
  • The authorization builds on Versa’s extensive sovereign and mission-critical deployments across federal civilian, defense, and intelligence environments.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Versa, the global leader in unified security and networking, today announced that its VersaONE Universal SASE Platform has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authorization through the SMX Elevate Intelligent Automation Platform.

This authorization enables federal civilian agencies to adopt Versa’s SASE offerings for medium-impact systems by reusing an existing Authority to Operate (ATO), eliminating the traditional burden of agency sponsorship and accelerating deployment timelines.

The achievement advances Versa’s FedRAMP High Ready designation and reflects the company’s continued investment in secure government cloud environments and federal compliance.

“Achieving FedRAMP Moderate Authorization is a significant milestone in Versa’s commitment to the U.S. federal marketplace,” said John McDonald, Vice President of Federal at Versa. “Federal civilian agencies are under increasing pressure to modernize infrastructure, meet Zero Trust mandates, and reduce operational complexity while maintaining the highest levels of security.”

“With this authorization, agencies can immediately deploy the same AI-powered Universal SASE platform trusted by leading global enterprises and purpose-built to meet stringent federal security and compliance requirements at multiple impact levels,” said Kenneth Lasoski, Director of Federal Compliance at Versa.

Accelerating Zero Trust and Cloud Modernization

The U.S. federal government has mandated agencies achieve full target-level Zero Trust implementation by the end of fiscal year 2027. This directive requires agencies to adopt identity-driven, continuously verified architectures and reduce reliance on legacy perimeter-based security models.

The VersaONE Universal SASE Platform plays a foundational role in converging networking and security and has been embraced by multiple agencies in sovereign deployments, including participation in DISA’s Thunderdome Program, the Department of Defense’s flagship Zero Trust initiative. Versa technology helps deliver secure SD-WAN and ZTNA capabilities as part of Thunderdome, accelerating the federal government’s transition to Zero Trust architecture and modern cloud-connected infrastructure while driving demand for platforms that integrate networking and security.

Immediate Agency Adoption without Sponsorship Burden

For many agencies, the traditional FedRAMP authorization path requires significant internal resources to sponsor and vet new vendors. Versa Universal SASE is now a fully authorized service leveraging SMX's proven FedRAMP-compliant security and automation. It removes this barrier for agencies and offers a seamless and turnkey Zero Trust solution.

Agencies can now leverage Versa’s FedRAMP Moderate authorized solution without undertaking a standalone authorization process, reducing procurement friction and enabling faster deployment of modern security and networking infrastructure.

“FedRAMP Moderate authorization represents a critical milestone for secure cloud innovation in the federal marketplace,” said Robert Groat, Executive Vice President, SMX. “Through the SMX Elevate Platform, Versa streamlined its authorization path to deliver its Unified SASE capabilities within an accredited environment. This enables federal agencies to adopt modern, consolidated security architectures with confidence and speed.”

Expanding Versa’s Federal Footprint

Versa has established a strong and growing presence across the U.S. federal government, helping agencies modernize infrastructure, improve security posture, and advance Zero Trust initiatives. Through programs with the Department of Defense and intelligence agencies, strategic partnerships and sustained federal investment, Versa continues to expand its support for all civilian, defense, and intelligence agencies seeking secure, scalable connectivity across mission-critical environments.
