As Spring Break Travel Ramps Up, Way Highlights TSA Wait Times Hub to Help Travelers Plan Ahead

Way’s TSA wait times hub helps travelers check airport security conditions across major U.S. airports during one of the busiest travel periods of the season

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As spring break travel accelerates across the U.S., Way is highlighting the relevance of its Transportation Security Administration (TSA) wait times hub, a resource designed to help travelers check airport security conditions across major airports before heading to the terminal.

The timing is especially important this year. TSA said in February that it was preparing surge staffing for March, April, and May to handle spring break and other upcoming travel peaks. But current airport conditions have become more volatile as the busy travel period collides with staffing disruptions. Reuters reported this week that TSA absenteeism has risen well above normal levels, contributing to long and less predictable security lines at several major airports.

At some airports, the impact has already been significant. Reuters reported that Atlanta advised some travelers to arrive four hours early after major TSA staffing shortages and that long lines were also being seen in Houston as spring break travel picked up.

Spring break demand is also expected to remain elevated over the next few weeks. AAA said on March 10 that spring break travel is active now and that major leisure destinations continue to draw strong demand, reinforcing the need for travelers to build in more planning time before flying.

Way’s TSA wait times hub is built to help travelers make faster, more informed decisions by giving them one place to check security conditions across airports, compare wait-time patterns, and better judge when to leave for the airport.

“Spring break is exactly the kind of travel period when airport timing becomes harder to predict,” said Binu Girija, CEO of Way. “Our TSA wait times hub helps travelers quickly check what’s happening across airports so they can plan with more confidence before they even leave home.”
