Alcanza Clinical Research Receives 2025 HCPEA Impact Award

Prestigious honor recognizes association’s members’ portfolio companies making meaningful contributions to access, equity, and innovation in healthcare

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Healthcare Private Equity Association (HCPEA), a nonprofit trade association focused on convening and supporting the healthcare investment community, proudly honored Alcanza Clinical Research (Alcanza) with its 2025 HCPEA Impact Award, recognizing the organization’s mission-driven approach to advancing inclusive, community-based clinical research nationwide.

The HCPEA Impact Award honors one healthcare organization each year that exemplifies the vital role private equity plays in strengthening the healthcare system through measurable progress across critical areas, including access to care, quality and outcomes, innovation, efficiency, workforce engagement, and health equity. Alcanza’s ability to make a profound impact on healthcare was a key principle for Martis Capital when the firm helped form the business in 2021 via the initial acquisition of three high-performing clinical research brands.

“Receiving the HCPEA Impact Award is an incredible honor and a reflection of the passion our teams bring to expanding access to clinical research every day,” said Carlos Orantes, CEO of Alcanza. “At Alcanza, we believe medical progress depends on research that truly reflects the communities it aims to serve. This recognition reinforces our commitment to inclusive, compassionate research that delivers life-changing outcomes.”

Meaning “to reach” in Spanish, Alcanza is a leading network of fully owned, community-based clinical research sites designed to meet patients where they are. Through its purpose-built facilities and emphasis on research quality and rapid study startup, Alcanza enables sponsors, clinical research organizations, and healthcare providers to conduct multi-phase trials efficiently while expanding participation among historically underrepresented populations.

“Alcanza embodies exactly what the HCPEA Impact Award was created to recognize,” said Mario Moreno, Partner at Martis Capital and Alcanza Board Member. “The organization demonstrates how thoughtful investment, strong leadership, and a clear mission can drive meaningful improvements in health equity, research quality, and innovation. We are proud to support Alcanza as it continues to redefine what inclusive clinical research can achieve.”

In partnership with Martis Capital, Alcanza has significantly scaled its impact over the past few years, growing the number of active studies more than fourfold and achieving participant diversity levels that remain uncommon across the industry. With more than 25 clinical research sites nationwide, Alcanza continues to break down logistical, educational, and trust-based barriers that have traditionally limited participation in clinical trials.
