TeamBest Global President and Founder Dr. Krishnan Suthanthiran Addresses Canada, Enbridge CEO, and Investors

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Suthanthiran owns the town of Kitsault, located northwest of Prince Rupert. Kitsault was originally developed as a mining community by Amax Canada Development Ltd. and once accommodated approximately 1,200 employees and their families.

Kitsault Energy anticipates generating billions of dollars in revenue for Enbridge, and tax revenues to Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and First Nations communities along the proposed KE pipeline route.

Today, Kitsault represents a uniquely strategic location for the development of a new energy enterprise and already has infrastructure in place that other major energy projects lack (for example, the $50 billion LNG Canada project in Kitimat, which houses employees and their families in a campsite). The town of Kitsault offers shopping/restaurants/indoor sports/swimming/post office/and banking facilities.

The Kitsault Energy (KE) project proposes developing a dedicated port and terminal at Observatory Inlet, approximately 30 kilometers south of the Kitsault townsite. Observatory Inlet is a wide, deep, and ice-free waterway, well-suited for tanker and large-vessel navigation, and situated just 50 kilometers from international waters.

Enbridge’s acquisition of Spectra Energy represents strong strategic value for Enbridge and Spectra shareholders. Prior to the acquisition, Spectra invested a few billion dollars on behalf of their client to secure the Canada Energy Regulator permit for a dual pipeline corridor extending from Dawson Creek, BC, to Ridley Island. This permit, now owned by the Enbridge/Spectra combined company, has expired. It can be renewed.

While Enbridge had a bitter experience with the Northern Gateway crude oil pipeline, reflection suggests that the originally selected route was the wrong choice, that the Enbridge team mishandled public engagement, and that strategic flexibility may have led to a more viable alternative.

The late Alberta Premier Jim Prentice, who also served as a senior consultant, recommended that Enbridge seek Kitsault for their crude oil pipeline. In fact, the Enbridge team contacted Suthanthiran years ago, and was welcomed to join forces with KE.

In life, good experiences come from bad experiences. With that perspective, Enbridge has the opportunity to move beyond the Northern Gateway setback and leverage its U.S.-based Spectra Energy expertise to develop dual pipelines extending to Observatory Inlet, adjacent to Kitsault, in partnership with KE.

KE anticipates generating billions of dollars in revenue for Enbridge, and tax revenues to Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and First Nations communities along the proposed KE pipeline route.
