NextGen Healthcare Selected by Large Ohio Non-Profit to Support Integration of Behavioral Health and Primary Care Services

Mental Health Services for Clark and Madison Counties, Inc. Makes Healthtech Investment After Recent Expansion of Services

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NextGen Healthcare, a leading provider of innovative, cloud-based healthcare technology solutions, has been selected by Mental Health Services for Clark and Madison Counties, Inc. (MHS) to help the Ohio non-profit streamline operations and fully integrate behavioral health and primary care services. NextGen® Enterprise EHR (electronic health record) and NextGen® Enterprise PM (project management) will offer a single, highly interoperable platform across the continuum of care—especially important as the organization seeks to become a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike.

“This is an exciting time in our organization’s history, and we were seeking a healthcare technology partner that could help us reach our goals faster and achieve long-term financial stability,” said Kelly Rigger, chief executive officer, MHS.

Established in 1969, MHS is one of the largest providers of behavioral health services and substance use treatment for children and adults in the west-central part of the state. Services range from outpatient counseling and school-based programs to residential support for independent living and an inpatient psychiatric unit. In August 2024, MHS further expanded with the grand opening of its first location to offer both behavioral health services and primary care.

“MHS has been an important part of the fabric of west-central Ohio for over half a century,” said Srinivas (Sri) Velamoor, president and chief executive officer, NextGen Healthcare. “We’re proud to help this storied organization in its next phase of growth so providers and staff can work with greater efficiency and their communities can access quality whole-person care for years to come.”

NextGen® Financial Analytics and NextGen® Operational Analytics will offer predictive analytics and actionable insights, while various solutions work together to streamline revenue cycle management. The patient and staff experience will be enhanced with the NextGen® PxP Portal, which enables secure communication between patient and practice, and NextGen® Patient Engage powered by Luma, which allows patients to complete pre-visit intake forms from their personal devices. An Instant Medical History enhancement will capture discrete data from patients during remote check-in and seamlessly deliver that information to the appropriate places in the system, further accelerating workflows. Meanwhile, NextGen® Mobile will empower providers to access the EHR from their mobile devices, offering them greater flexibility.

“This is an exciting time in our organization’s history, and we were seeking a healthcare technology partner that could help us reach our goals faster and achieve long-term financial stability,” said Kelly Rigger, chief executive officer, Mental Health Services for Clark and Madison Counties, Inc. “I’m excited about the enhanced experience we’ll be able to offer providers, staff, and community members in our next chapter.”
