AdvancedMD Top Predictions for AI in 2026: More Time with Patients, Less Burnout and Improved Personalized Care Models

According to AdvancedMD CPTO Nupura Kolwalkar-Rana, advancements in AI are helping healthcare providers be more efficient.

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today announced its top predictions for healthcare providers in the ambulatory care space. According to AdvancedMD, 2026 will be a pivotal year in terms of how care is experienced and delivered. With AI, the golden days of face time during physicians’ visits will be an omni-present reality, enabling the dream of care without clicks.

AdvancedMD predicts AI will usher in a new era of ambulatory care where less time is spent on paperwork and completing charting tasks after hours—no documentation backlog, just medicine.

As AI adoption increases, physicians will be able to walk into their clinic with everything ready: patient histories, labs, and insights can be summarized by AI. Time spent with patients will be focused on conversation and care, while, behind the scenes, ambient AI tools can listen, transcribe, and draft notes in real time. Suggested labs and medical prescriptions can be queued for review by providers. Physicians will simply approve care plans—no typing patient data into their charts, no toggling between screens.

“Our community of private practice providers are already integrating highly effective AI solutions into their workflows with the AdvancedMD AI Clinical Assistant, from our helpful pre-visit summary feature to the ambient listening capabilities that minimize the time spent on documentation,” said Nupura Kolwalkar-Rana, Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), AdvancedMD. “In the next 12 months, as generative AI technology continues to evolve, we predict that providers will have greater access to tools that can significantly reduce inefficiencies across the practice and help further efficiencies.”

Last year, a survey of more than 100 C-suite healthcare executives revealed more than 80% of respondents said that AI could improve clinical decision making and 75% said that the technology could reduce operational costs by helping to improve efficiencies.

According to Kolwalkar-Rana, “AI is increasingly becoming the backbone of the healthcare technology industry, augmenting human skills, streamlining daily practice operations, and enabling effective, efficient, and deeply compassionate care.”

Based on performance data from the more than 65,000 practitioners that use AdvancedMD practice management, EHR, and patient engagement solutions, AdvancedMD predicts advancements in AI technology can drive gains in the following three areas.

1. Ambient AI solutions may help eliminate administrative burdens, reducing burnout for both providers and the administrative staff.

Ambient listening and AI-assisted transcription solutions may help providers and their staff automate tedious, time-consuming tasks, leading to more face time with patients, in addition to more time spent on valuable work that matters. Ultimately, clinicians can focus on empathy and care versus paperwork, reducing burnout across the practice.

2. Patients may receive more personalized care plans, significantly improving the patient experience.

AI technology may help providers deliver more personalized care based on each patient’s biology, medical preferences, and clinical needs. Early detection, dynamic care plans, and AI-powered remote devices and digital support tools can help improve outcomes, while also helping patients understand and adhere to treatment programs. Not only may these advancements improve the patient experience, they can also help build trust and create stronger physician-patient relationships.

3. AI may reduce operational inefficiencies, helping to accelerate growth for private practice owners.

By eliminating operational inefficiencies—from documentation and scheduling workflows to claims and billing processes—AI technology can enable practices to scale their efforts, increase patient volumes, and grow the practice. With fewer errors, claims may be approved faster and reimbursements distributed in much shorter time. No show rates can drop, and patient billing may become more streamlined. With AI technology integrated into daily operations, private practices may be better positioned to remain financially resilient and thrive.
