First Payment Made in Southern California Edison’s Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program

Over 1,500 claims have been submitted.

Community members asked for more frequent updates on the program and wildfire recovery efforts. This update is part of our commitment to keep them informed.

ROSEMEAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Community members directly impacted by the Eaton Fire are getting compensation without delay to rebuild and recover. Just 45 days after Southern California Edison launched its Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program, the first payment has been made.

To date, over 1,500 claims have been submitted. Offers have been extended and accepted. More payments will be made by year-end.

  • Total claims submitted: 1,551
  • Number of claimants and household members involved: 3,293
  • Offers extended: 27
  • Payments made: 1
  • Percentage of claims submitted by plaintiffs’ attorneys: 20%
  • Three most common loss types: non-burn damage (43%), total loss (40%), partial loss (5%)

On average, it takes about 90 minutes to complete the claim form. Participation in the program is completely voluntary. Claims can be submitted until Nov. 30, 2026.

The Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program is designed to provide fair resolutions and fast payments to eligible individuals and businesses. SCE remains focused on:

  • Processing claims quickly (within 90 days of being substantially complete).
  • Offering resources online, by phone and in person.
  • Delivering fair resolutions and fast payments within 30 days, after all conditions have been satisfied.
