HPE Awarded $931M Other Transaction Agreement to Modernize DISA Datacenter

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HPE (NYSE: HPE) announced that the Defense Information Systems Agency, a combat support agency of the Department of War, has awarded HPE with Production Other Transaction Authority, a 10-year period of performance worth life cycle value of $931 million, for a distributed hybrid multi-cloud solution to modernize their data centers.

GreenLake will bring the agility, scalability, and automation of the public cloud experience together with the performance and security provided by an on-premises private cloud.

This modernization effort will transform DISA data centers and aims to provide next-generation digital and artificial intelligence services that will help deliver mission-critical outcomes for warfighters at the speed required by real-time, global operations. HPE will deploy HPE Private Cloud Enterprise using GreenLake, establishing a secure, National Institute of Standards and Technology-compliant cloud environment with on-premises and air-gapped management.

GreenLake will simplify management of DISA's IT resources across public and private clouds through a unified, hybrid multi-cloud platform, ensuring a secure experience. This production deployment builds upon HPE's successful completion of a prototype that began in 2024.

“We’ve built GreenLake to deliver a secure, unified cloud experience, and we’re honored that DISA has selected HPE to extend those capabilities to create a sovereign cloud tailored to the agency’s mission-critical needs. With this secure hybrid, multi-cloud platform, DISA can deliver innovative, future-ready managed services to the agencies it supports that are operating across the globe,” said Fidelma Russo, executive vice president and general manager of hybrid cloud and CTO, HPE.

Delivering a Sovereign, Secure Cloud for Global Operations

The deployment will enable DISA to scale and accelerate communications and application deployment, as well as benefit from enhanced AI and data analytics. The private cloud will support a wide range of services and workloads.

HPE Private Cloud Enterprise with on-premises and air-gapped management enables DISA to manage on-premises and commercial cloud services through a single hybrid cloud control plane capable of supporting multi-tenancy, virtual private clouds, and comprehensive data privacy and protection through a zero-trust architecture.

Unifying DISA IT with a single hybrid, multi-cloud experience

The modernization will consolidate DISA’s J9 Hosting and Compute into a unified experience for infrastructure and services. The implementation of this effort aims to increase DISA’s IT efficiencies and reduce costs and management complexity.

GreenLake will bring the agility, scalability, and automation of the public cloud experience together with the performance and security provided by an on-premises private cloud.
