The Standard Promotes Laxman Prakash to Senior Vice President of IT Infrastructure and Chief Information Security Officer

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) announced today that Laxman Prakash has been promoted to senior vice president of IT Infrastructure and chief information security officer.

“Laxman has advanced our security operations and governance, safeguarding the company from cybersecurity threats,” said Greg Chandler, executive vice president of Information Technology at The Standard.

In this role, Prakash is responsible for leading the company’s IT infrastructure organization while embedding security into all aspects of infrastructure design, operations and governance.

Prakash joined The Standard in 2011 as director of Information Security and Business Continuity. In 2017, he was promoted to second vice president of Information Security. Most recently, he was assistant vice president of IT Infrastructure and chief information security officer responsible for IT risk, identity and access management engineering.

Before joining The Standard, Prakash was a senior portfolio manager for Wipro Technologies and a manager for KPMG, LLP, where he provided technical direction and oversaw delivery of security and business continuity services for clients.

Prakash earned his Bachelor of Engineering in electronics and telecommunications from the University of Madras in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Prakash is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional as well as a Certified Business Continuity Professional.
