“As the intelligence community and defense industry continue to evolve and adapt to emerging threats, AV remains focused on collaboration, adaptability, and delivering asymmetric advantages to our customers through our dedicated CMS group,” said Jones. “I look forward to working with our leadership team and talented workforce to build on our momentum and deliver the mission success our customers demand.”

A seasoned leader and U.S. Air Force veteran, Jones is a proven defense executive who brings more than two decades of experience to the role. Jones began his career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, supporting multiple space missions before separating at the rank of Captain. For the past 19 years, he has served in multiple leadership roles at AV, increasing in span and scope and contributing to the growth and success the company. Most recently, he played a critical role in the integration of more than 550 employees from the Defense and Interagency Services Business Unit (DISBU), establishing CMS as a cornerstone within AV’s Space Cyber and Directed Energy (SCDE) segment.

“Johnathan has consistently demonstrated the leadership and operational expertise required to take AV to the next level,” said Trip Ferguson, President of SCDE at AV. “His deep understanding of our customers’ missions combined with his proven record inside AV makes him the right leader to strengthen and grow this critical business area.”

Jones earned his bachelor’s degree in aerospace science engineering, graduating summa cum laude, and also received his commission from Tuskegee University, the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) that was home to the Tuskegee Airmen–the first African American military aviators in U.S. history. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. He is a devoted husband and father of three. His wife, also a U.S. Air Force veteran, now serves as a middle school science teacher.
